That is fine by us. They should have gone to trail anyway and make a statement instead of plea it out.

Anonymous said...

Good. York is getting the needle.

Anonymous said...

Well, "stupid is as stupid does" can come true now! Due to some statements he made on the scene which will probably be admissible in trial, there shouldn't be much issue as to him having the necessary intent to find him guilty. Then, you're left with the punishment of either death, or life without parole. The ONLY reason you'd turn down a plea offer of life without parole is if you REALLY, REALLY, REALLY think you have a chance on the guilt/innocence phase of the trial. Looks like COMPLETE justice will occur in this case!

Anonymous said...

Of course he didn't take the deal....what does he have to lose by going to trial?

Anonymous said...

Nice point 1:41. Death or life w/o parole, either way his life is over. Might as well chase that long shot.

Anonymous said...

1:41 ummmm maybe thirty years?

Anonymous said...

Too many doubts to get the death penalty on this one. 20 years would be my guess.
Also, no way this trial stays in Wise County, just my opinion!

1:41 - His life.

"Nemo Me Impune Lacessit" I hope the death of an officer never occurs again, but also hope if it does any D.A.'s office will do the RIGHT thing and not cower to a plea deal! A plea in this type of case is a farse! I hope York's penalty will bring some peace to Sergeant White's family, friends and fellow officers.

Anonymous said...

what he has to lose is...
The plea deal would have put him away for the rest of his life - a guilty verdict by trial could cost him his life.
Defense is probably hoping the state won't be able to prove intent, but he's a dead man walking in this county

"Walkin' the Mile...walkin' the Mile!"

Anonymous said...

Trial should not stay in this county, if for no other reason than this Blog. Also, our straw poll at work says 50-50 not bad odds for him. How is the county going to pay for this trial?
Any estimates on what this will cost the county?

1:41 Here...

I'm not an idiot...I know what he has to lose. I'm saying why not go to trial and take your chances? Life without parole or the death penalty? I'd take death anyday, if they gave me at least my original offer (as in the plea) then I didn't have anything to lose.

Sheesh.

Honestly, I hope he gets death...it's exactly what he deserves.

From 1:21 PM: If he is found guilty of capital murder, he does not have the possiblity of getting "20" or "30" years, folks. He will get either life without parole, or death. There won't be a sentencing range. Admittedly, if he is found guilty of a lesser included offense, then there will be penalty ranges to consider. However, that is unlikely due to statements he made on the scene immediately afterward that will be admissible in court that shows guilt at the capital punishment level. Maybe he WANTS the death penalty instead of spending the rest of his life in prison! Who knows.

First off I do hope his trial cost the county out the rear! Because of the county and the city police, there is one of their own dead and a man waiting to find out his fate.No
matter what he said at the time of the accident I hope it is revealed what happen before the chase ever happened.Yes I feel for the family of Randy White but I also feel for the Family of Steven York.

RPM said...

So the DA offers a plea bargain to a cop killer? Yeah, nobody will bring that one up at election time. But, how will they blame it on a Democrat?

Anonymous said...

4:15 The county and city police didn't kill Officer White. Steven York did.

Anonymous said...

oooh, 4:15---------------

You are correct in your assessment but you gotta know saying it out loud isn't going to win you many friends

Anonymous said...

4:15, You mean what happend before the chase... Oh yeah that he was acting like a loon and his family didn't care enough to get him help he thought he needed so he tried to get it from public servants.

Danny Boy said...

4:15, there is a reason you left it anonymous. You my idiotic, incompetent, blathering idiot fellow human are a dumbass.
Would you care to explain your dumbass thoughts there before you just slapped the widow and fellow officers across the face? How in any way is the county at fault for the "accused" of intentionally ramming a police car that was protecting others?

Anonymous said...

You know what all you high and mighty people what if you were incrusted with his burden!Do you think from conception it was his wish to end up at this destination! He who has not sinned cast the first stone!Bunch of hypocrites!

Anonymous said...

I've known Steve since he was a kid.He has had so many chances I could'nt start to count them. When one is like this they only have to look inside to see how to change their life.He had a briliant mind, could work hard and well;a wonderful wife and children, many friends who helped him and he worked harh to get where he is.Let him reap what he sowed;to blame the system is absurb.

Anonymous said...

Maybe someone can get him a razor...

Anonymous said...

I don't believe he'll get the death penalty. They're going to have a hard time proving that what happened was premeditated or even intentional. No matter what he said after, he was under the influence of who knows what and he had just had a serious car wreck. I think they'll end up convicting him on a lesser charge and putting him away for 25 or 30 years. This was a horrible heinous crime, but it was a crime of opportunity.

And to his FAMILY who are posting here in his defense, you aren't doing him any favors. You're just going to stir people up and make them even madder. Maybe you should take the legal advice you were given and stop talking about it already!

RPM said...

OK 9:29, I never murdered anyone. Here's a little chin music high and inside...

"...incrusted with his burden!"
???

Most of us aren't hypocrites because most of us have never killed anybody, allegedly

CHEF ASKS: WHAT'S FOR YOUR LAST MEAL?

Anonymous said...

Wow, one year and five months later people still want to blame the police. Give me a break.

York had the option of taking the deal to avoid having to go to trial. This 'deal' wasn't offered for his sake people, it was to save the tax payers money and most importantly so White's widow would not have to go through the pain of reliving the entire ordeal.

The facts today are no different than they were on April 2nd 2009. White was doing his job and York killed him. The 'events' that preceded York ramming White's police car are irrelevant...he killed him.

So, for those of you who want to blame the police, blame high speed chases, or York being methed out of his mind...go ahead. It doesn't change the tragic end to the story.

No one that knew Randy White or knows the White family would ever say Randy's life was more valuable than any other human life. For those of you that have made such a comment, shame on you. The White family is a remarkable group of people who not only pray for their own healing, but ask the same for the York family.

Anonymous said...

Unfortunately, because there are more people who think like 4:15pm, is why York was smart to go into trial..They are going to try to help us forget what they did to Officer White, and try and put blame on the county for not helping him. I say, I get he was a sick man, and needed help.. I do get that,..But we need to remember and focus on the what York did. How he hurt people all over wise county. But most importantly Officer White's family. His wife and precious little girl.

Anonymous said...

The plea offer should be expected! Trial shall cost the tax payers a bunch to go to trial.
I'm sure many people have heard of this case, but could still sit on a jury. Population!
I don't think we need to be shooting arrows at anyone on this blog about this case.
Can you throw the first stone?

Anonymous said...

This accident happened around the time that kids were getting out of school. I am so thankful that Officer White thought enough of the community that he put his life on the line and because of that, no innocent children were killed. I feel for the York family, but had it been one of their family members killed by a careless person, they would want the death penalty too.

2 Corinthians 5:17

So if anyone is in Christ, there is a new creation: everything
old has passed away; see, everything has become new!

I'm worried about the ones that are throwing stones on this blog.

Consequenses, yes.

Forgiveness a must!

4:15 if it cost the county?
Who do you think pays the county?
Do you like that it is costing you?

To anonymous 9:29...
Did you REALLY think through that moronic comment or did you just puke it up after coming out of a booze/meth induced coma?

EVERYTHING in an ADULT'S life happens due to CHOICES made by the adult. York made the COUNTLESS BAD CHOICES, as an ADULT, that led to York, killing Sgt. White.

Have I made bad choices? Oh, yeah! Have I made bad choices resulting in me running from the police, high on meth and killing another human being? NOPE! Just because people have "sinned" does not mean they are "hypocrites" for judging the malignant choices and actions committed by some sack of flesh wrapped filth who is masquerading as a human.

To anonymous 9:04...

You do realize, the quote you cheery-picked from The Big Book of Myths and Fables applies to Christians, and has NO place in a discussion regarding the application of US law, right. Muslims are the people who require Islam be taken into consideration when enforcing civil/criminal laws. Oh, wait! Perhaps, you are suggesting that the US engage in a form of Christianized Sharia law.

Freedom for his soul regardless of being locked up. It is a choice. You have yours, and I have mine.

Yes Mrs Crapology and RPM=Revolutions per millennium,If your soul was born to that body at the same time with the same influences that caused his problems and poor decision making you wouldnt have made the same choices.....please get off your soap box because it is about to collapes from the weight of your heads and the feeling your some how special inside the guilded cage.

Anonymous said...

I think he did not take the plea bargain because he does not want to serve life in prison. Maybe he believes he deserves the death penalty. Can't he just choose death?

Anonymous said...

Yes this was tragic....but dont the messenger and you people realize...Mr York has three children that read the papaer and maybe this blog. What kid wants to look at the papaer and see that his or her mother or father is going to die. Have some heart for his children atleast.....

I am quite sure his children already know he may die. I doubt if they read the paper or this site. Life is so cruel to some people, even little kids. Hopefully they will receive help. From what I have heard, they have family support. I pray for all those involved. It is a very sad situation. We should all be thankful we are not directly affected.
