- The Six Flags ad campaign has added a second weird dancing guy -- kind of a Minnie Me character. It's just weird.
- A bomb in Times Square, one along a marathon route in Pittsburgh, and one in Colleyville on the same weekend. Coincidence? Yeah.
- Underrated movie that I saw on cable this weekend: One Hour Photo.
- A mini-series that should have been great but is a flop: The Pacific.
- Tiger Woods' golf wheels flew off last week and he didn't make the cut for, I think, the sixth time in his career. I wonder if there's a chance he's completely, completely lost it?
- Twenty-five shot dead in Mexico over the weekend. Heck, I'd want to get out of there, too.
- Motorcycle death in Sanger over the weekend.
- The Rangers started the weekend in last place and ended it in first place. (And pitchers C.J. Wilson, from the bullpen, and Colby Lewis, from Japan, are fantastic.)
- Our DA's office has already hired two prosecutors to replace the two that left last week.
- I wrote a couple of weeks ago about a DPS trooper who was convicted of shaking down motorists for cash. Now, after a about a week in jail, the 42 year old is dead.
- Denny Crane threatens frequent Messenger letter to the editor writer Ken Hughes?
- That oil slick in the gulf is bad and getting worse. But I can't believe the Fox News crowd has started a "where was Obama's response?" campaign.

Pics are sliding again.
"Twenty-five shot dead in Mexico over the weekend...", clean up your own country instead of coming here.
Denney Crane and Ken Hughes. All I can say is tard fight. Those two deserve each other.
I would leave Mexico too. I wonder when we are going to give them amnesty and citizenship so they can stop mowing grass and apply for jobs at the General Motors assembly plant. That will drive the prices down and make American cars more competitive. What do the unions have to say about that?
Walmart can even hire them. Wonder what the Americans working there think about amnesty and competition for their jobs.
I totally disagree with you about the series "Pacific" - considering Hanks and Spielberg were involved.
Incredible filming and acting. Intense reminders of the horrors of war.
Worth the watch.
Bombs in New York, Pittsburg, and Colleyville. Thank you Mr. President. I feel so much safer now!
The Pacific is a flop? From what perspective? I think it's one of the best programs about WWII I've seen. Just how much did you know about John Basilone, The Battle of Peleliu or the Marines of the the 1st Division before it aired?
Yeah, it's no Pearl Harbor with Ben Afflek. Now THAT was a flop.
I believe the term 'flop' is referring to commercial and ratings success. I think that 'Pacific' is great as well but apparently BG, a few commentors and myself are the only people who watched it.

The reason republicans are wondering "Where was Obama?" Is simply that most politicians act like children, so when most Liberals, somehow blamed Katrina on G. W. Bush personally (Yes, I am sure he turned the Hurricane into New Orleans with some secret super weapon to keep it from his home state of Texas). The republicans are now going to blame this on Obama, yep he blew it up. Both of them are just guilty of trusting information from people that were appointed/paid a lot of Taxpayer money to be experts and leaders in these events. These folks are most often incompetent boobs who just happen to go to the right college with the right rich kid.
Not just FoxNews...Meredith Viera brought up the slow administration response to oil leak last Friday on the Today Show. gasp..horror..mainstream media being critical of Obama....
It is hard to believe that the general press hasn't started a "where was Obama's response" campaign, except for the obvious and embarrasing fact that he is their boy.
Do you want to name the other jillion countries that people would want to leave? Do you want to open the flood gates and take everyone that has a beef with where they live? Did you ever think we can't save the entire world?
BG - you are a small idiot.
CJ Wilson is not from the bullpen, he has been a starter all year, and Colby Lewis is not from Japan he was born in Bakersfield, CA.
The NY Times is also asking where's Obama been in regard to Louisiana. Is he not still regarded as the second coming?
Anon 8:59 I just have a gut feel that the unions are salivating at the thought of all the potential new members
On the article of mexicans being killed in mexico.......What is the problem? This is Gods way of cutting the population.....put of huge walls and tell the mexicans to stay wheer they belong.
Is that beach chick standing in oil tainted ocean water?
11:01am
Barry meant CJ has been in the bullpen for quite a few yers now, and Lewis has pitched in Japan for the last few years....
Kenny Rogers pitched in the Rangers bullpen for 4 or 5 years and then started for 15 years.
11:22
Here is a concept:
Maybe they could build a fence with all the dead illegals. Be cheaper that way, and the Mexicans can take all the credit.
Potential new members, 11:17?
They already hire illegals now. I know this for a fact.
Illegal workers (including those given amnesty) depress the value of manual labor. It is the simple economics of supply and demand. It drives the prices for products they work to produce down but also depresses wages, or causes unemployment for some citizens like carpenters. What are the unions thinking?
Talking about the murder in Mexico, the media is not reporting on the officer in Arizona who got gut shot a couple days ago after pulling over an illegal.
Re: The Pacific... I don't "want" to watch it. I "need" to watch it.
The Pacific isn't a let's-all-yuk-it-up-I-wish-I-was-one-of-those-guys WWII flick. It is a dark, sobering look at the nastiness of the Pacific War. It is hard to watch. Much like Black Hawk down was hard to watch. Much like Schindler's List was hard to watch.
But you need to watch.
Re: Six Flags man and mini me... now THERE is something you don't need to watch.
'can't believe the Fox News crowd has started a "where was Obama's response?" campaign' -- If the roles had been reversed, and Bush or Repub been in charge, the Demo's and liberal weiners would be beating their drums, too! sheesh
Honcho - I agree - everyone should see the entire "Pacific" series, and they certainly do rank right up there with Schindler's List. I think these will one day be given to the Library of Congress as one of the greatest reminders of what our WWII troops went through.
Couldn't care less about any movie about any war.....I detest was and won't watch anything that involved it. period.
War is fun!
1:29, you should care about this one. The Pacific is not a "glory of war" film. It is a biopic of the men and the price they paid for your freedom.
I detest was as well. I cannot stand verbs that start with "w".
So, 1:29
for what meaningful endeavors do you pull your head out of, uh...the sand?
Our freedom is a result of war. Deal with it
would be a lot simpler if we had a guest worker program, that way we could get away from the whole "illegal" part of it and still enjoy cost-efficient labor. this would also do away with any potential racial profiling laws. so simple, but our government just doesn't get it. but thats not really different from anything else...
i heard denny crane is continually a victim of burglary by the backdoor intruder
dps officer shaking illegals down for $ - lost job, prison time, death = karma
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I meant WAR and I still detest it and all it stands for. I neither watch movies about it, read about it, or participate in anything related to it, such as veteran's day. I am a child of the 60's and I think ALL war and all those who fight in them are wrong. Period.
Answer for 2:46: I would come out and participate in a PEACE rally, but nothing promoting war or glorifying those who choose to participate in the killing of other people. I believe in many causes, but war is NOT one of them.
I wanted to watch Pacific until I heard Hanks in an interview and he started on his leftist rant and compared the war in Iraq and the war against Japan similar in that they were both racist wars.
