Random Thursday Morning Thoughts

  • Saw a travel ad on Fox 4 promoting Tulsa, Oklahoma this morning. Tulsa? Really?
  • You don't hear the term "Chicano" anymore. How come?
  • It almost feels like the Far Right wants another terrorist attack so they can blame Obama. (And the Far Right used to say that about the Left during the Bush administration.)
  • Just dawned on me that Terrell Owens hasn't signed with an NFL team.
  • Silly Cinco de Mayo giggle.
  • Newsweek went up for sale yesterday. I'm one of the few people that still subscribe to it, and I can't tell you how much it is deteriorated over the last couple of years.
  • The Fort Worth City Council had a vote this week on the banning of new pawn shops. That's insane.
  • If you want to see the mugshot of a girl held in contempt for wearing a very offensive T-shirt to court, go over to the Smoking Gun.
  • It may be as pretty in Texas as I've ever seen it. The previous rains have made everything dark green and every river and lake is full.
  • A marriage proposal that is just a little uncomfortable.
  • Bob Woodward is planning a book on President Obama. That should make you boys happy.
  • Had a fairly lengthy meeting with our DA yesterday. Even after 10 years, it's still weird sitting on the the opposite side of a desk that I use to occupy.
  • "A small group of students walked out of classes at Haltom High School on Wednesday morning, marching for nearly three hours to protest the Arizona immigration law." I question their motives.
  • Remember the great obituary I posted last weekend? Bud Kennedy's column in the Star-Telegram revealed yesterday that it cost the family $1,180 to run it. Sheesh.

-'Chicano' observation = same reason tomorrow you will post a bullet like:

Why dont I ever see 'curb feelers' anymore?

-Newsweek = Isn't that the one that put Barrack Hussein Obama on the cover 14 times? Gee, that's about the time it started going down hill.

-Girl with T-shirt = Obama should be wearing that shirt.

-Haltom City students = would have been better if they kept walking West for 1067.05 miles

-Tulsa = Maybe. Are there less illegals there?

Skippy, You have a vivid imagination if you think the right is wanting another terrorist attack. It was the left leaning liberal weenies and their lap dog media that was so hoping that the NYC bomber would have been a tea party member. If you were objective, you would realize that Obammy's approach to terror is to set up a hotline and if you are a T Shirt vendor or someone on a plane that sees someones crotch on fire to call in.

1. Both side always want to blame the other side. Mayor Bloomberg wants to blame The Tea Party

2. If you're going to steal material from The Ticket, shouldn't you reference them?

I didn't know people were forced to use pawn shops. I thought it was optional. I'm also under the foolish impression that the only reason pawn shops open in certain areas is because the demographics and characteristics of those areas are such that the people there really like to use pawn shops. I guess pawn shops just open to irritate people, not to serve a demand. I sure hope I don't get rounded up and shipped to a pawn shop and forced to sell something or borrow money at a high interest rate.

How many terrorist attacks were there after 911 in the Bush administration? Republicans don't wish for an attack, we just warn there will be one, or many, with Obama and his pandering. They have been blowing up stuff in the Middle East for generations. Waterboarding worked (needles under finger nails would be even better). We won't use the needle technique until they start blowing up cities with 7.5 pounds of HE uranium. A hard rain is going to fall. You are like children who cannot learn from someone explaining to you. You have to feel the pain first.

All of you are just codependent political junkies. Always blaming each other for everything that goes wrong! Geez! Sounds like a playground with wanna be adults!

Maybe this will get published, mine usually are not!

I heard Obammy use the word Chicanos not too long ago.

I really disagree with you about Newsweek. I love Newsweek - subscribe to it, look forward to getting it every week. I love the new format that they started last summer where each issue has a theme that they cover thoroughly and creatively, instead of just skimming the week's news.

Jon Meacham's editorial is always interesting, even if I don't agree with it. I love the writing, the variety of writers, the book reviews, the Conventional Wisdom up and down arrows, the awful to awesome weekly spectrum, the political cartoons & quotes. I find Fareed Zakaria's (sp?) articles particularly interesting.

Texas Monthly is also reliably a good read, as is Newsweek.

Actually, intelligent citizens of this country would like a president as opposed to a community organizer who can preside over crisis situations, and that is all of us regardless of your ridiculous right or left definitions.

The stupidity of our population is manifested in anyone protesting a state attempting to enforce a law that our inept federal government will not. Illegal aliens and just that illegal...get them anyway we can and get them back to where they belong.
