National Day Of Prayer Update

  • The guy running the show is from "Jack Daniels Ministries".
  • When speaking to the crowd, for some reason, he made reference to the federal budget deficit.
  • And our "turning our backs" on Israel.
  • He correctly pointed out how private citizens are free to hold a Bible and pray on government property.
  • I kind of stopped down when he said, "I gone to jail for crack. I'll go to jail for Christ."
  • The most prevalent T-shirt was one that read "Jesus God 'Er Done."
  • Joe Duty was snapping photos like crazy.
  • The cops made them move the bus.

Well, let me be the first to say that it looks like he has a huge following. Maybe even some of his customers from his Crack days. Folks like that "Crack" me up.

Jack Daniels Ministries --

Sounds like a very interesting church!

Is it held at a different bar every week?

Anonymous said...

Googled him and he is doing a revival at a church in Decatur this week.

Went to one of his Revivals, he is an amazing preacher with a powerful testimony. He will be going to the FBC in Chico next, everyone should go check him out

Update us on the fatality wreck in Bridgeport.

Matter of fact I visited Jack Daniels ministries just last night, it was neat!

10:57 - not sure there was a fatality wreck in Bridgeport. The middle school hosted the "Every 15 minutes" program this morning. They staged a mock fatality caused by drinking and driving in front of the school this morning. They had firemen use the "jaws of life" to cut the vehicles and remove "deceased" students. Hawkins Funeral Home took those bodies away in the hearse. The ambulance helicopter took 2 students to the hospital. The "drunk driver" was loaded into a police car and taken away.

I know it was a staged event, but I hope that what those students saw today will make them think twice before drinking and driving or getting into a vehicle with someone who has been doing so. When I first heard about he program, my first thought was that the middle school was too early to do that, that it needed to be at the high school. But, we are only kidding ourselves to think that these kids are too young to be involved in that sort of behavior. If anything, showing it to them before they are faced with it could make all the difference.

Barry, I have pictures of the event if you are interested in posting them. Not sure how I go about getting them to you, though.

Is this one of those right wing Christian conservative extremist groups that Big Sis Janet Napalitano is warning us about? I think she should concentrate on Muslim men whose crotches are smoking or their SUV's are smoking then buying a one way ticket to Dubai with no luggage and are on the no fly list.

God bless them.

12:44, one day every knee will bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. He died for mockers like you too.

Many prayers being offered for the DISD school board election Saturday. Restoring trust begins with approving applicants based on qualifications, not friendship.

Sooo... has anyone heard about the brutal beating in Chico on early Monday morning. The young man was transported to a Fort Worth hospital where he has been treated for very severe injuries (including 4 fractured vertebrae). The police were called and the men have been identified....however no arrests have been made? The boys were last seen sitting on the front porch of the house where the beating took place....hmmmmmmmmmm??? and did I mention: NO ARRESTS HAVE BEEN MADE?

Anonymous said...

well tell us what porch they were setting on

Where's Greggo?

Anonymous said...

Is there a police report on the beating? Who was the victim?

1:48 - To which qualifications are you referring? Would that possibly be openly demonstrating a propensity to micromanage the school district from the board? Ignoring campus security rules which are designed for the safety of children, faculty, and staff, school board members non-exempt? I think that if the incumbents are re-elected, the board should not hire a superintendent. It's a waste of salary. The incumbent board members/former school administrators know more than anyone else, and can perform those duties from the boardroom. The quality of applicants for the job will be reduced anyway if the incumbents are re-elected, because noone who is currently doing a good job and in a good situation will apply. And, in fact, if they are re-elected, they will push for hiring a weak supt., one they can control. We've seen it before, right here in Decatur. The make-up of the applicant pool will be dependent on the outcome of the election, and the best candidates are waiting until after the election to decide whether to apply. This school board election is the most important one we've had in a long time. Re-election of these two incumbents will have a negative impact on our community for years to come. This, from a former Decatur school board member.

5:55 my comments were general. My point is that right now we have a lame duck superintendent, no personnel director, and thus a principal getting away with hiring a close friend as AP over more qualified applicants. Whoever is elected needs to step up!

Anonymous said...

And just why haven't we hired a personnel director. Didn't Mosley retire several months ago?

Anonymous said...

Ditto 5:55

Anonymous said...

Better questions: Why does DISD NEED a personnel director? REALLY!!!!!

Anonymous said...

7:57- because right now there is ONE person in charge of way too much at that administration building.

Anonymous said...

So who is going to hold Rann accountable for hiring the best AP for our children?

Anonymous said...

So,former board member are you suggesting that the best candidate in your eyes, Melinda Reeves is waiting to apply to see if her hand picked group are elected so we can have a police state running our school district? Only former board member and Melinda advocate Laura Montgomery would have such intest in righting things for Decatur/

Anonymous said...

what friend was hired as AP?

Anonymous said...

DISD has no need for a personnel director. That job was created for the man who has since retired from it. No need for a superintendent as long as Story remains. He's the one running things and that includes his control of Gindt.

Board members need to be on the board to represent the will of the taxpayer as well as help with school policy. I have a real concern about board members who buy, 'hook, line and sinker' what is taught as proper "school board behavior" by the "schools" they attend telling them they MUST act together and have a united front for the sake of the administration of the school. I want members who will follow what is RIGHT, and will speak/vote their own convictions and NOT follow what they have been schooled to do! Isn't that what voters expect?
I appreciate the incumbents for not being worried about presenting a "united front" but instead voting their own convictions about what is BEST for the kids, and the taxpayers. I'll stick with Howard and Quantz.

Geeeze, How did a blog about some goofy preacher and National Prayer Day get hijacked by a DISD bitch session? Maybe they should have focused their prayers on DISD to solve the problems.

Goober said...

REMEMBER!!! YOU HEARD IT HERE SECOND!!!

If Howard and Quanz are DEFEATED on saturday, Melinda Reaves will be "Der Fuehrer" of DISD and all that implies for the next ten years. You think Sinatra, Martin, et al were a RAT PACK? You ain't seen nothing until "Der Fuehrer" returns.

Anonymous said...

11:31- this is what happens when there is no system in which to discuss and problem solve. Where there is a lack of leadership, people are left to their own devices to raise awareness of what is really going on. Desperate times call for desperate measures!

Anonymous said...

I think Goober is a Goober. The DISD is smarter than he thinks it is!

Anonymous said...

You silly people. Just because Gary Clayton and Jeff Elder are generally on friendlier terms with M.K.Reeves does not mean that she will sweep back into DISD if the election swings in favor of the non-incumbents. If elected, I am sure they will look at the applicants objectively, and make a decision that they feel is the best for DISD. M.K.Reeves SHOULD NOT be a factor in this election. She is no longer a factor in this school district, and personally, I don't think she will be anytime soon.

Anonymous said...

Hey 12:40, I agree.

Besides, the criteria for a new superintendent that was spelled out by TASB in the paper this week would actually exclude any candidate (or possible candidate) from being eligible if they have less than 3 years experience as a superintendent or assistant superintendent.

Anonymous said...

well... here we go with new turf, new practice (indoor) facility, and probably a brand new stadium IF the rumors are true that the newbies on the DISD board on in Kyle Story's hip pocket. taxes are going to FLY!

Anonymous said...

Well, forgive me if I have less faith in our hiring practices. Are you unaware of what is about to happen at Rann?

Anonymous said...

Evidently we are unaware of what is about to happen at Rann. What is it?

Anonymous said...

Yes, someone with all the answers please speak up. Don't be afraid!

May God continue to bless you Jack Daniels.
