First on the cover of Texas Monthly as it considers his presidential chances. And now he's on the cover of Newsweek this week. With no realistic Republican presidential candidate to emerge yet, don't rule him out -- and I know that sounds crazy. For now.

I can't figure out what scares me more-the thought of Rick Perry as president or the idea that we'll never get him out of the Texas governor's office. Here's hoping he resigns from the governor's chair and loses the presidential election.

I believe, I have only 3-4 times tossed on the Grammar Nazi hat. Each time it has been because someone was using egregiously WRONG grammar/spelling while bashing another commenter.
Due to my own propensity for typing errors, as a rule, I steer clear of correcting the grammar/spelling/typing of other commenters. Perhaps, you have failed to notice, I frequently omit entire words, add a "y" to the end of "the," type "if" when I should have typed "it" and vice-versa, typically forget the second comma, if I remember the first comma, in a clause, of many of my comments and post my comments without bothering to proofread. Thank goodness, this is JUST a blog and it really does not matter.
I know it's your blog, and all, but I have a rec: treat shock-value-only racist posts just like you do crude language that is socially unacceptable. Reject 'em, stop giving them a venue to anonymously spew their venom. We should all act like they don't exist. Racism in any form, including so called "reverse" racism, needs to go away. Racial references from any group to any group are all unacceptable. Come on, Barry, start a trend.
As a conservative, I THINK Perry is not a good governor. He will not be a GOOD choice for President, either.

Everyone always bashes Perry but you got to admit the state of the state of Texas is much better than many other states. Economy is stronger, unemployment lower, standard of living higher; probably his only glaring fail would be education.

Lots of Perry hatin' goin' on. Not sure what spurs it to such feverish levels. Perry has baggage, sure. At the same time, whether it's due to him or the Legislature or something else, Texas has had it relatively good during his tenure.

If you are correct, about "O" sinking the democrats, there is one thing for which to give "O" the thanks he is demanding from taxpayers.
"O" is not making "W" look smart but "O" certainly is proving that "W" was competent enough to surround himself with smart people. Of course, I will NEVER understand "W" appointing a life long politician with 3 years in the Navy, Donald Rumsfeld, as Secretary of Defense and a career military man, Gen. Colin Powell, as Secretary of State.

It is my understanding that the TAXPAYERS of Texas are footing the bill for his nine thousand dollar a month rental home until he and Anita can get back into the governor's mansion.
