Random Thursday Morning Thoughts

  • Six cop cars around a house on 51 North out of Decatur this morning causing some traffic backup. What's up? Edit: It's the first entry in the Update.
  • From my Weather Center: Looks like the Winter Blizzard Warning for tomorrow was premature since it may not be a big deal after all. (At least Fox 4 was downplaying it this morning. Channel 5 was still hyping it.)
  • No speech, regardless of the subject, should last more than 15 minutes.
  • The Republican response last night in front of a live audience was a much better idea than just throwing someone in front of a camera in a quiet room.
  • More State of the Union: The calling out of the Supreme Court for its corporate campaign finance decision was tense.
  • I saw a "Tea Party" sticker on a car in Fort Worth yesterday. As I passed him, I was able to determine the driver was an older, white guy. I was shocked. Absolutely shocked.
  • Crazy this morning: I-35 by American Airlines Center was shut down around 5:00 a.m. this morning after a car was hit with gunfire and crashed into the median. The driver was hit but survived.
  • The new iPad doesn't really do it for me.
  • Update on the burglary of a motor vehicle trial this week: 270 days in jail and a $3,500 fine. It didn't help that he decided to burglarize a few cars in Bridgeport after the death of an officer last year because he figured the police force "would be short handed."
  • Today a DWI trial starts up against an out-of-county full time fireman.
  • "Fort Worth officer who spanked teen gets six-month sentence." (That one wasn't a Wise County case.)
  • Government Heavy Hand: If you own private property near Cowboys stadium you can't charge others to park on your property without first paying the City of Arlington for a permit ($150-$400). And if you don't, they will criminally prosecute you. Like this guy.
  • If you were going to have lunch at Abuelo's in Lewisville today, you might want to rethink that due to a fire last night.

"I saw a "Tea Party" sticker on a car in Fort Worth yesterday. As I passed him, I was able to determine the driver was an older, white guy. I was shocked. Absolutely shocked" -- I love reading your junk. Sometimes actually some truth in it! Glad you see how the Tea Party farts are taking control of this nation again. Young ones have no sense, no vision, no money, don't pay taxes. Old gray haired people have been there, done that, and will regain this country over Obama-jama.

I don't see much difference in what Justice Alito said last night and what Representative Joe Wilson said a few months ago. I guess "Not True" refers to ignorance of facts and "You lie" refers to an intentional misrepresentation of fact. Neither of the two is acceptable. The President should not be an ignorant man or a liar.

The Abuelo's fire story links to a fatal accident in north Fort Worth.

Speaking of Fox news, why does no one ever call Mark Davis out on the stuff he says? This morning he basically said the housing crisis was caused by lenders being forced to sell to people of color. I couldn't believe it. No one said a word--not even Bob Ray Sanders.

On December 21 2012 everything will be closed due to damage by fire.

The National Weather Service is still calling for freezing rain for Wise County. It is common for Wise County to be several degrees colder than either Dallas or Fort Worth. This morning it is 51 at Bridgeport Airport and 56 at Love Field in Dallas.

This data reminds me of the global warming fraud that used all urban temperatures in Russia and ignored the lower rural readings.

It was shocking last night for the president to take on the Supreme Court, seating right in front of him. Especially when we all know George Soros funded Move-on.org that supported Obama.

Obama doesn't understand the Supreme Court is a check and balance to Congress and the Executive Branch or he just doesn't want big corporations to fund campaigns; just big labor and George Soros.

1st 9:20...Bob Ray probably kept his mouth shut because he knows it is true.

Barry, I think you can begin taking skin pigment injections to make you darker, and maybe a face lift to make you younger...I mean you really sound like you long to be a young black man.

9:20, I guess you have never heard about the Community Reinvestment Act nor the data that links it to our current economic problems.

9:20 no one said a WORD because it's true! Come on. Your smarter than that aren't you?

I swear. Idiots have consumed the good ole USA. No wonder the US is screwed up right now.

The Cowboy stadium is such a weird altered world. My grandparents used to live next to TCU stadium and we grandkids would park cars then go see the second half of the game because you could get in free by then. Ft Worth didn't charge us!
Even near Lambeau field families charge for parking. The people around the stadium should benefit for the inconvenience of living near Jerryworld.

Rumor has it the cops are in Alvord this am, said they fill like they in litte Newark and time to clean this place up.Someone said looks like the city needs to regulate the trash you can have in and around your house.

Obama's speech last night was the most riveting pile of B.S. I have heard since his campaign days. The guy talks out of both sides of his mouth and thats a proven fact, just look at the record. What a joke and don't even get me started on Pelosi. A Pathetic representation of government for the Liberals and Democrats alike not to mention the United States of America. Because this guy presents weakness you can bet this Country will have another attack and I'm not even sure that'll change his mind. And, who in the hell are his speech writers? That would be the first people I would fire. Good Luck America!!

9:38 - you took my words - community reinvestment act

Abuelo's Corporate is located here in Lubbock...little known fact about Abuelo's Mexican Food Embassy: Mr. Lee, the grand pooh-bah of the restaurant, is Chinese! I think that is pretty funny.

9:38 and 10:46 - the CRA had far less to do with our economic melt-down than the unregulated exotic banking instruments. Now that's a fact.

Where are the "conservatives" who decried the "activist courts" now? The Supreme Court has opened wide the $$ spigot for corporations to spend their investor's money - without their permission - to finance any candidate anywhere. This overturns over 100 years of laws and precedence (i.e. activism). And now when a Russian oil company or Chinese steel company or bank want to buy some representation - the Supremes say just go for it. Very tragic, indeed.

WOMEN!!!!!!!!!
REAL WOMEN FOR A CHANGE!!!!!!
WAY TO GO B.G.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

There were three equal branches of government. Lord knows the President and Congress call each other out all the time. I see nothing wrong with Obama challenging congress to close off a legal loop hole that Supreme Court created. The right is always talking against activist judges. Seems to me this is a prime example but the right isn’t speaking up……hum…..

Will this be this time that the Malones are finally put away?!?!? I have heard about them since I was little and it seems like they always just get a slap on the hand.

Dissing on older white guys? What are you? Younger and black? I don't think so. I guess you were born a poor black child. (the Jerk)

Law enforcement must have used the Sheriff's office as the staging area oabout 6 this morning for the big bust. All kinds of "official vehicles" there about that time! WTG boys! Get the white trash off the street!

If anyone would bother to read history, they would see that the right wing is following, in lock step, with the philosophies of Coolidge and Hoover. Deregulation of banking practices (as explained Tues. Night on FRONTLINE), denial of basic human services legislation, and endorsement of the entire "laissez faire" philosophy will eventually catch up with this country. The problem is these "older white guys" are the guys who grew up in the late fifties and early sixties and help create the greed and excesses of the eighties. They are correct about our children and grandchildren paying the price for governemntal performance. And it is the ignoring the lessons of the 20th century and repeating those mistakes that make it the crying shame.

While driving in Ft. Worth I saw an Obama/Biden sticker on a two tone '78 Buick with "twenny foes." I was not shocked in the least when I saw who was driving. Sad, but my comment makes me racist.

11:18 You and Obama are incorrect. Where you are wrong is the supreme court decision had nothing to do with international corporations. They will still be banned from contributions. It only applies to US corporations. Why is it that you think it's ok for unions to donate all they want, but corporations can't? That's why it applies to free speech.

Anonymous said...

M-M, I must acknowledge that you are a fine constitutional lawyer but what is your definition of "US corporation?" I KBR a US corp.? - it's based in Abu Dubai. Is Budweiser a US corp.? - it's owned by a Belgian company. The list is endless. The door has been opened to those with the big bucks to "buy" legislators at all levels. I guess it's ok if you like those candidates, but what if you individual citizens don't?
