Perhaps, some of the blame lies with the parents who allowed/paid for their booze hound of a little darling, Amon Carter IV, to go out-of-town. Much of the blame goes to Amon Carter IV who CONSENTED to being branded by his drunk buddies.

If the family wants to know who is responsible, they can look in the mirror and at their little prince. This was not a school or frat sanctioned event; it was a personal ski trip. It was a bad thing to do, no doubt, but perhaps he will be a better judge of his friends in the future.
This also begs a question: Has Chance participated in these brandings before? If so, maybe someone should consider going after the Carter family. Bet they would retreat to the "boys will be boys" mantra then.
