I May Revise My Winter Weather Triple Blizzard Advisory

Predicted: Actual: Artist's Rendition of Tomorrow Morning: I think that cold front hit with more impact than expected. At noon, it's already 42 degrees in good ol' Decatur. And dropping. Edit: Ok, maybe a weird temperature day after all. It's getting warmer after the sun went down.

I think you're gonna get what we just had.
6:00 a.m. Thursday - Rain, 35° Wind blowing like crazy.
8:00 a.m. Thursday - Sleet, 30°
12:00 noon Thursday - Snow covering everything, 28°

Who washed their car???

Pete Delkus is rested and ready to work thru this. I predict he will have his jacket off by 4.

Ok that sounded a little dirty, his suit coat.

That is not the first time that girl has pulled a trigger! Nice form.

Bring on the snow and ice....LOVE IT!!!

Take a look at these temperature monitoring stations that are used to support the global warming fraud. It does not take a scientist to know that it is warmer next to a building than out in the open. And next to the exhaust on an air conditioning compressor!

How can any normal thinking perdon question global warming at all? It's "Global Warming" not "local warming.

1:16, unfortunately you are talking to Wise Co citizens. The accumulated science of countless organizations of QUALIFIED scientists have no doubt that CO2 levels are much higher than any other time in human history and raising higher yet. The effects on the global climate will be serious and coming soon. The only question is how bad and how soon. However, Wise Co will avoid any problems by just ignoring reality.

Hey 1:16, worry much!?

203 - There is plenty of doubt about CO² causing "global warming." A very good argument against it, by a former carbon accountant for the Australian government (in other words QUALIFIED,) is here. Even in Al Gore's propaganda film, he stops short of saying CO² causes warming. He only says that there is a "complex relationship." There is even a reasonable argument that increases in global temperature are the cause of increased CO² levels.

The politicization of the matter has corrupted the science, and scientists, involved in promoting the theory of manmade global warming. The fact that these scientists are withholding and concealing information is telling.

2:03, Sorry about your ignorance. Go back to school and study the scientific method. The temperature monitoring stations and their defects pictured at http://www.surfacestations.org/odd_sites.htm prove that the scientific method was not used in gathering data that was relied upon in the global warming fraud. The urban effect of asphalt, concrete, buildings, vehicles and other structures on temperatures is well known. Yet they cover only a very small part of the overall surface of the earth.

The Climate Research Unit at East Anglia University in the United Kingdom who is under contract to the UN has been proven, through hacked email, to be a total fraud and not a proponent of the scientific method. They are the source of most arguments preaching global warming.

People on the Global Warming bandwagon say only people paid by oil companies refute the "science" and proof of global warming while totally ignoring the fact the scientist claimining global warming depend on their own theories for their paycheck. Without global warming, they are out of a job. I have read many of the hacked emails and they are truly astounding. The UN has been taken for a ride. As in all things...follow the money and you will find the truth.

wordkyle said...

333 - While I agree with your overall argument, I disagree with one point. Rather than being "taken for a ride," the UN is complicit in perpetuating the manmade global warming theory.

The UN's Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) takes preliminary findings from scientists and creates a Summary for Policy Makers. This is the report that makes all the headlines, and to which Obama and other politicians refer. According to the coordinating lead author of the report (a scientist,) UN politicians intentionally misrepresent the scientists' findings to fit their own political agenda; i.e., governments must exert more control over citizens to "save the planet." As a result, he says, the IPCC -- which won the Nobel Peace Prize for its "work" on global warming, along with Al Gore -- has lost all standing as an authority on global warming. The UN is not a victim, it's the criminal.

Pay attention boys and girls. I will now allay all your global warming fears.

1) If, IF there is global warming going on, we do not know if it's man-made or not. The globe certainly has warmed and cooled enough times in tne past without our help. It will undoubtedly continue to do so without our help.

2)IF there is global warming going on it will all occur so gradually you would never really notice if the talking heads on the boob tube didn't cry "the sky is falling" every half hour.

3) Ten times as many people die from cold every year as do from heat. A little warming might not be such a bad thing. Growing turnips in Minnesota would feed a lot of starving Africans (or convince them to finally grow their own food and quit having kids they can't feed.)

4) One big volcanic eruption could spew enough ash to cause a twenty year cooling cycle. Historically this has always caused severe drops in agricultural output.

Look, you're being taken for a ride on this deal and a lot of people are poised to make a lot of money (think Al Bore)off your irrational fear. Quit with the sheep to slaughter scenario you are now living and think for yourselves

What a total display of ignorance - wordkyle included.
1. The goofy links to some CA and OR buildings with weather equipment does NOT provide conclusive evidence of anything other than the temps they are currently measuring. Gee, the data goes back to 1880 obviously before these places were built and using different equipment. The climate data is not dependant upon any of these simple samples.
2. The flap over a couple of emails between researchers dealing with data not easily digested by neophytes does not disprove anything.
3. Volcanoes do expel a bunch of gasses and debris - but none in recent history has belched as much as human activity produces - daily.
Don't take my observations as I'm not a climate scientist. But the scientists of the National Academy of Scientists and dozens of authoritive peer-reviewed journals provide the painful information for those like wordkyle who rely on sincere research.

Urban surfaces including asphalt, concrete, buildings, and autos absorb more solar radiation. At night, much of that heat is given up to the urban air, creating a warm bubble over a city that can be as much as 2 to 5 F higher than temperatures in surrounding rural areas. Based on the growth of our cities one can believe that the temperature at Love Field in Dallas would be higher today than it was in 1950 because the streets around it have been widened. There are more buildings and paved parking lots. In other words there is more material today to absorb solar radiation than there was in 1950. Some global warming data collected from Russia excluded rural monitoring stations. As to the urban areas of Russia, they are more populated and have more man made surfaces to absorb solar radiation than they did in 1950 or in 1900. Therefore the warm bubbles over these cities may have temperatures higher than historical ones from 1800-1950.

Garbage in garbage out. I learned that in college physics class.

536 - The e-mails that you so blithely dismiss reveal the coordinated effort to exclude scientists who disagree with the mandmade global warming theory from those "peer-reviewed journals." The alarmists have used deception, misrepresentation and outright fraud to "prove" their point. As has been said before, if you have to argue your science by using fraud, then your science is not valid.

Incidentally, the Mars ice caps are melting, indicating "global warming" there. How much should America cut its CO² emissions to remedy that? (Not related? Only if you choose to ignore that big bright hot thing up in the sky and deny the solar effects on global temperatures. Hint: it's usually hotter during the daytime.)

602 - Yes.

Yep, like a rock. Frigid 40 degrees as I got home at 6:00 p.m. I got some of those open flame cook tray sterno warming cans and lit them under my well water tank so it wouldn't burst.
