We've Hit The Big Time In A Bad Way

A faithful reader points out that Decatur was referenced in The New York Times yesterday. (Thanks Jake.)

AIG has told the government it intends to pay huge bonuses to the people who led the company into disaster. $100,000+ bonuses each to lots and lots and lots of management. Using bailout money. AIG says its sorry, but these bonuses were agreed prior to bailout. Make sure you're not late with your income taxes, lots of people who make more than you need the cash.

"Thousands of oil and gas workers who migrated around the country to work in new fields for fat salaries have been laid off."

I knew it had been a while since I saw the guy who drives the big-ass truck with "Oilfield Trash With Money" displayed on his back window 'round the 'Hood.

Barry, we all know we were on a bubble in the Barnett deal anyway, but at least folks were working for their money. We need to revolt and cut these crooked sum bitches heads off in DC and on Wall St.
Your boyz at the Democratic Party had to "create" some of this financial stuff to get Obama elected. Now we got Obama spreading the fear so he can get his earmarks and entitlements pushed thru. About Thanksgiving they will start telling us we are "pulling out" of the financial mess, just in time for everybody to start buying Santa Claus.

And they call the Republicans a bunch of crooks. The Dems claim the repubs caused this. Fine, then quit bailing everybody out. The whole thing is a bunch of fake bullshit and the common folks are getting crushed.

Once we get rid of all the oilfield trash ....then we can start on the mexicans.....

Why is it that oil keeps coming down and gas prices have been inching up to $2 and no one is saying anything.

The oilfield will be back atleast by 12/21/12. It's not like the barnett shale is gone or busted. Hopefully when Obama is impeached things will start running smoothly again especially the meth labs. Boy times sure are getting rough I sure picked the wrong year to stop smoking crack.

Proud driver of one of the white trucks !

"are the good times over for good?"

You are right, we are rolling downhill like a snowball headed for hell.

I think the country was sitting back and waiting for Pelosi and Obama to take charge. When they did (when the October polls showed who would be in charge)we started rolling to the depths they will take us. We might not survive.

They (drillers) will be coming back when Israel bombs Iran the end of the year! And prices will be sky high again!

One who is worried is Chris Stamper, 32, a derrick hand from Union, Miss. A former furniture factory worker, he doubled his salary, to $80,000 a year, when he came to the Barnett Shale field two years ago to learn to work on a rig. Fifteen of 20 workers on Mr. Stamper’s crew have already been laid off, replaced by more senior workers from other crews that were disassembled in recent weeks.

He keeps thinking about the $216,000 house he bought for his family back in Union.

“I have to pay for it,” he said. “That’s what I worry about.”

If you drive a white truck for Devon....I hope you've saved the last two years.

Mzchief, are you betting on WWIII?
WWII is what it took to get us out of the last big crash.

Somebody needs to tell Mr. Allsups & Mr. Walmart the oil & gas war is over for now and leave the DAMN gas at one price, instead of at 8:00am it is $1.68 a gallon and 30 minutes later it has been switched again and again and again and again!
Didn't you price gouge us enough?????
You ought to have already busted your seams by now, considering before any of the hurricanes hit land, you were already jacking the price of gas up or are you one of those ones that WE the TAXPAYERS will need to BAIL OUT because you are living WAY BEYOND YOUR MEANS!!!!

I seem to recall a similar oil field crash back in 1983...I mean we had tan trucks back then and most of the drilling was going on further north...I was just surveying down in Wise County back then...no drilling yet. Up north along the Red River...a few wells in Denton County...Munster Arch, Trinity Sands stuff. It was sad...we started doing something else for a living. Reagan was President so we didn't really worry when the bank took the house...just moved to Dallas and got into the computer business. Too bad for the people now. Obama is in charge. No computer business to get into.

HaHa....I love it when someone is jealous of other's successess.
Hey , 11:09.
They buy the gas at a price.....they sell the gas according to what they paid for it.

When they change the price, it's because they've sold that gas and are now selling gas they bought at a different price.
I promise you, "The Man" is not trying to keep you down. Go buy it somewhere else.

Jarhead and 4:42, Oil and Gas workers work long hours in the heat, rain, cold, etc. for their paychecks....they earn them. They are not lazy like you probably are and they don't mind going where the work is and bettering their lives and their families future. I work for a frac outfit and we don't have a drug problem, those guys don't get hired or don't last long where I work. The only time I have seen much of that has been from local people like the crackheads from the adjacent trailer park in Newark coming onto the location and bothering us when we were trying to work. By the way, a large portion of yalls local boys are Oil Field Trash.

Jarhead said...

Sheesh.

4:41 is angry.

Happy Frac'in'!!

why should the people at devon saved over the last two years??????
Im pretty sure that company wont go under

Anonymous said...

Naw....they won't go under...because they will make sure the lay-offs will keep them afloat.

Hey 2:14 pm,

I am not jealous of anyones success, especially when it is earned the honest way, but in are day & age honesty is pretty hard to come by.

You are a MORON, if you think I believe these gas stations here in Wise County run out of gas within 30 minutes after being in town and they change the prices from a nickel to a dime higher and then by the end of the day or next morning the price has went back down! If you believe that non-sense I have a oil gusher that I would like to sell you, so you can play with your gauges too!

By the way, I do try to always buy gas out of Wise County, Thank You Very Much!
