Random Monday Morning Thoughts

  • Watched the documentary "Standard Operating Procedure" which looked at the Abu Ghraid prison scandal. It was pretty interesting with many of those involved explaining how those famous photos came to be.
  • But people have to trick up the "Lynndie England pose."
  • The Megan Henderson on Fox 4 was great on Friday, especially the last twenty minutes. I've got it TIVO'd and will put it up on youtube if I can motivated to do it.
  • Think this AP writer has a certain viewpoint about the old south?: "BIRMINGHAM, Ala. –A potent March snowstorm blanketed much of Alabama with up to 4 inches of snow Sunday, covering Civil War statues and forcing the cancellation of hundreds of church services."
  • On July 7th of last year, I ghoulishly predicted Paul Harvey's death within six months. I was close. (An emailer reminded me of this)
  • Two NFL players went missing at see sea over the weekend. I rarely look at NFL.com but thought I would check it out regarding the story. All day yesterday there was not a single mention of the incident.
  • I like the Palladia channel.
  • I saw on the news this morning that it's almost a blizzard in D.C. Found a live webcam of it if you want to check it out.
  • Serious question: I was watching the lead singer of The Fray last night play the piano like nobody's business. Can any one do that with enough practice? Or is it a gift that few people possess?
  • Secret video of me at the Sissies playoff game.
  • I heard the Star-Telegram is raising it's daily rate to $1.00 an issue
  • For the second year in a row, those trees that have those beautiful white blooms fired off the blooms too quickly (due to unseasonably warm weather) only to have the return of cold weather knock them back.

The ocean is called the SEA. SEE is what your eyes do. Good God, how the F did you ever graduate high school, much less collage?

The Fray are greatness! Isaac Slade is an amazing pianist. Chris Martin is probably a close second.

Yeah 8:29, you have room to talk...its college, not collage. Let me guess, that was on purpose...

Hey Anon 8:29, I may not be the sharpest tool in the shed, but I'm pretty sure BG graduated from college not collage. You might want to check your own spelling before you start calling people out.

8:29- The place you go for education after High School is called COLLEGE. COLLAGE is something you make with posterboard and pictures. You must be a child of one of the Wise County school systems.

Yep, Barry, folks CAN play a piano without training, make a living at it and impress the general public.........but

..folks who enter the Cliburn International Piano Competition, now going on in Fort Worth and concluding the end of May......well

these are pianists who are talented and have combined that with extensive training and education...

...and these folks surpass all the others.

AnObiter said...

"Those trees" are Bradford Pears.

Regarding the piano-playing? Some of us have to practice like crazy to do that; others have a gift. I took six years classical piano and can play only a handful of much-studied pieces by heart. An old friend of mine can merely hear a song -- or take one look at new sheet music -- and play like Van Cliburn on call. It's amazing.

Anonymous said...

collage? I believe you mean college you pretentious jerk.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, I have a friend who can play any song in any key - raw talent..very impressive...

...your friend has likely had good teachers who demanded sightreading at every lesson.

Wonderful!

That Global Warming thing is "really" something else. The "Proofs in the Puddin", just look at the Northeast. Ha!! Ha!! The "Sky is falling, the Sky is falling"!!!
Everything will correct itself once the Dow hit's 5000 and, it will happen. The scary part, people will be truly p.o.'d at what's taking place. I predict people will stop buying anything that is non-essential and probably begin "stocking-up". Good Luck America, you voted for him. You can blame Bush all you want but he wasn't there to put in place more stimulus, pork and government control. I was glad to see he was at the Wizards game, front row, drinking a large cold beer. Life is good, for him.

You gotta love the headline on Drudgereport. Largest public protest of global warming ever in USA faces DC March snowstorm. That tells you the mindset of liberal weenies. Don't protest in August when it's the hottest, but do it in the winter. Those weenies crack me up.

i didn't go to collage or college, but i did
spend the night in a holiday inn express

I vote you change the name of your blog to "Liberally Lean from the Land of Dairy Queen and Home of the Ugliest Bitches on the Web"...

That girl in the striped top has a head on her like a bastartd rat.

NEWSFLASH LADIES....Just because you conned your boyfriend who is 20years older than you and going thru his 3rd divorce to finance your new rack does not mean you are suddenly good looking.

If that's your version of ugly, you need to get your nose (and whatever else you've got stuck) out of the Playboy magazine, and take a look around the real world.
I would definitely hit that based on the photo alone.
And that rack, well, it looks homegrown to me

When the Dow goes to 5000 will
12/20/2012 or whatever come early?

Don't even mention global warming. It makes me angry. Sea levels are down a few centimeters from the mid 1800s (more water frozen). Instead of global warming we have global cooling. The reports of increased CO2 are fraudulent. Only high readings from the 1800s were used in the study. All the low readings were ignored. The liberal hippies, left over from the 1960s, who still read Mother Earth magazine, are dictating that the government spends my money on solar and wind. Their leader, Al Gore, meanwhile consumes 225,000 kwh of electricity per year. Most homes in America consume around 24,000 kwh per year. In 20 years, going full speed ahead, Pickens' wind power will provide only 5% of our electrical power. These types of stupid decisions from Obama and Pelosi (she hates low energy prices because she is heavily invested in natural gas) is fraud. I would rather spend my money on installing high efficient air conditioning systems in your homes. A program of tax breaks and grants would more than cut demand by 5%. I cut mine by 35%. Let the citizens of this country save money on their electrical consumption rather than pass out subsidies to Pickens who’s advertising is fraud designed to make him another billion.

I am stunned that yet again, an anonymous commentator on a blog knows more about global warming than ALL OF THE SCIENTISTS IN THE WORLD. Where do this hidden geniuses come from, and how are their views so cruelly suppressed by the Demoncrats that they can only reveal their extensive knowledge in comments to someone else's blog?

Anonymous said...

XAN..., us hidden geniuses have degrees in science. We have worked the West Coast from California to the Aleutians on environmental issues. We are well read. We know how to research historical data such as 150-year-old sea level recordings and carbon dioxide readings from the 1800s. We know what "the scientific method" means.

So, other than Al Gore, where do you get your science? All the scientist in the world? You forgot to mention 400 of them who are very angry about this “Hollywood science” fraud.

In 2007 over 400 prominent scientist from more than two dozen countries voiced significant objections to major aspects of the so-called consensus on man-made global warming. These scientists, many of whom were current or former participants in the UN Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, criticized the climate claims made by IPCC and Al Gore.

The Senate Environment and Public Works Committee’s office of the GOP Ranking Member issued the report.

mzchief said...

To Xanthippas...
Clearly, you failed to get the memo regarding Al Gore's global warming hoax.

Last year, 52 scientists authored a much hyped report issued by the UN’s IPCC which said global warming was man-made and getting worse. But in the past year, more than 650 scientists from around the world have now expressed their doubts about the reports findings – 12 times the number of IPCC global warming alarmists now agree it’s bunk.

“I am a skeptic…Global Warming has become a new religion,” says Nobel Prize Winner for Physics, Ivar Giaever. “Since I am no longer affiliated with any organization nor receiving any funding, I can speak quite frankly…as a scientist I remain skeptical,” says Atmospheric Scientist Dr. Joanne Simpson, formally with NASA and called “among the most preeminent scientists of the last 100 years.” Warming fears are the “worst scientific scandal in history… When people come to know what the truth is, they will feel deceived by science and scientists,” said UN IPCC Japanese Scientist Dr. Kiminori Itoh. “It is a blatant lie put forth in the media that makes it seem there is only a fringe of scientists who don’t buy into anthropogenic global warming,” said U.S. Government Atmospheric Scientist Stanley B, Glodenberg. Top these very few quotes with the fact that 34,000 scientists have now signed a petition saying global warming is probably natural and is not man-made.

Xan, you really should obtain your climate change information from somewhere other than Hollywood and Al Gore.

Xanthippas said...

If you got that memo from RushLimbaugh.com, we probably need to talk.

If you are not aware of the fact that I DESPISE Limbaugh, Hannity, Coulter, O'Reilly and Beck with the intensity of a tire fire in Hell, you have failed to pay attention. Incidentally, I have the same disdain for Olberman, Matthews, Moore and Maher. I have NO patience for zealots from the LUNATIC fringe of EITHER political party.

Anonymous said...

I wonder if that chick would like a Banana Milkshake or somethin.

Anonymous said...

Xanthippas, You don't pay much attention to anything other than your own ideas that are totally lacking in scientific proof. Stop listening to CNN and do a little reading. An example that discredits you, is saying "All the scientist in the world". Only a vocal minority agrees with you.
