Some commenter kept saying it and I didn't believe him. But he was right. Some guy named Clinton Phillips filed as an Independent for the Wise and Jack County DA job.

Come on Barry, you know your commentors are the most informed on the www.
Clint has served as our corporate attorney the past 2 years and I'd put him up against any attorney anywhere. He is a stand-up kind of guy that flat out knows his stuff.
Call him some guy now while you still can as you may be calling him District Attorney or even Judge Phillips in the future.
jarhead - do you know the names of every single person in every single office within 2 blocks of your work? I certainly don't. We're small town, but the days when you knew every person that worked on or off the square are long gone. Sad, but true...... or maybe not so sad, just true.
Hey Jarhead. Ronald McDonald has an office in Decatur at 905 W US 380 Bus. Like Clinton, that clown isn't from here and I bet Barry doesn't personally know him either, so chill! Oh, and thanks for the link to the Independents. With such a diverse list of occupations, one can only imagine the colorful characters that go with them.
Well, Jarhead - Sounds you have job qualifications that would suit you to work for "National Enquirer". There is something kinda creepy when you say you work in Fort Worth & know who all the lawyers are in Decatur.
Jarhead's what every red-necked, neocon Wise Guy deserves: an insane, "ex-marine" (yeah, right!) "investment advisor", who likes firearms, motorcycles, baby-, and trouble-making. Good grief man, you need to take a long, hard look at yourself in the mirror tomorrow morning.
I really feel sorry for your girlfriends and your spawn.
In Barry's defense - Maybe I've missed a few of the local bar meetings and am not in Court everyday, but I haven't met this Clint. And having an office doesn't necessarily mean that it is used.
Gotta support Barry on this one practiced in Decatur quite a bit, lots of time in the Courthouse, thought I knew everybody practicing in both counties. Don't recall ever hearing his name or seeing his office. However some new blood might be interesting. I mean some Courthouse regular had to bring those crabs in.
Lawyers in a small town know other lawyers so this guy must not practice much in the County! Not voting for someone who is an unknown for the job of District Attorney. Who knows, he may represent bad people!
7:05 Your small town, Wise county logic is amazing! Just because you don't know Clint, you automatically assume he does'nt do much in Wise county and he must represent "bad" guys.
He practices law exclusively from his Decatur office although his competency as an attorney does allow him to serve as chief legal counsel for both national and international corporations. He is definitely not your run-of-the-mill sleazy lawyer. I encourage you to go and visit him at his office at 107 W. Main, Suite 202 in Decatur and then at least you can surmise an informed opinion.
Does anyone out there know if he's ever tried a criminal case? Does he know anything about criminal law? The DA's job doesn't have much to do with civil law or corporations!
We got his name. We got his address. We got the fact that he's a good guy. But does he know anything about prosecuting felony cases (i.e. crimes against you and me!!!!!!!!
Nobody's writing anything about his CRIMINAL experience.
He is very serious and he will be immersing himself in the community in the coming months. I go to church with him and he is very involved in all our community outreach activities. Believe me, Clint is not running as a spoiler. He will put everything he has into winning the election regardless of the odds.
All I've noticed of him is his "sour" personality. He's a bit egotistical, as in male chavonist, and not much of a communicator at all. I don't think that's what Wise County needs in the DA's office.

Some guy? Jesus, his office is right on the square and you don't even know who he is?
107 W. Main St., Suite 202, Decatur, TX, 76234
Oh, yeah, you're at 303 West Main ~ almost 2 blocks away.
One Clinton is enough for a lifetime.
2:55PM - typical Repug neocon way of thinking......you ass. May your Gawd help you.

I'll bet if there were others in my profession within two blocks of me in Decatur, I'd know them fo' sure.
Hell I work in Ft. Worth and I know most of the people in my profession in Decatur!
Jarhead...I am suprised you know most of the janitors in Decatur, that is impressive. Sorry man, you left yourself wide open.
I hate to break it to you, but your "low blow" wasn't that funny.
Now if you would have said "I am suprised you know most of the man-whores in Decatur, that is impressive..." Now THAT would have been funny!
I'll give you credit for trying, though.
so many lawyers, so few public offices....the county does need new blood...Clinton it is!
3:31, I'm amazed a liberal weenie admits there is a God.
I said "your Gawd", you stoopid neocon, 5:18PM. Geezzzz, get a clue.
;) 3:31PM

I don't have a Gawd you stupid weenie. Get an education.

I guess the Hawkeyes agree with me about one Clinton being enough for a lifetime.
Ahhh, it's so easy to be critical when one doesn't have an identity.
Hey! Let's leave my girlfriends out of this. Talk about my spawn all you want, though.

7:05 I would think most lawyers represent the good and the bad. That's their job. Not sure where you were going with that.
I say if the guy is from Chico...he has to be good. ;)

It appears from some of the comments in this article that sniping is not restricted to Afganistan nor regular Army units.
This guy has been in Decatur practicing law since March 27, 2005.
He does represent local populace.
And since he is an independent, he doesn't owe any one political group or faction or sect anything. He is his own man.
How many of you can say that?
I am a rock, I am an island.
I've never even heard of the dude.
And no doubt he has never heard of you either?
Does anyone out there know if he's ever tried a criminal case? Does he know anything about criminal law? The DA's job doesn't have much to do with civil law or corporations!

In a small county, having a good name and being known is a big, big plus in being elected District Attorney. Greg Lowery is well known.
Sorry, I can't vote for someone who is a stranger amonst us and it is up to him to go out to meet the voters!
There is too much at stake to elect someone no one knows regardless of how a good lawyer he claims to be.
A newcomer in the political scene is not going to win in this race.
House, this unknown lives near the Lake, not in Chico. Matter of fact, he lives close to me and I've never seen him or met him at any function.
If anyone was serious about running for office, the first thing they would do is to get out in the community.
Perhaps this guy is playing the part of a spoiler???

10:12 You obviously don't know Mr. Phillips very well.
