That's them all right! Someone told me that they are African Cattle Egrets that came to the U.S. on ships from Africa. If that's so, I don't see why they should be afforded any protection whatsoever. I mean, if they are eradicated to "extinction" here, we'll be the same off as before they came here--no permanent environmental impact! However, I don't know for sure if it is true that they originally came from Africa.
They are afforded protection because they got here on their own. They didn't catch a ride on a boat. They just expanded their range, sometime in the late 1800's, and came to the US in the 1940's.
