Someone just pointed out to me that the courthouse will be closed on Monday in honor of Martin Luther King, J. Day but that my office will be opened.

The title of this post is redundant.
I bet they won't be closed for Robert E. Lee's birthday....Which, may I add is January 19th. And don't start saying that King was more important than Lee was. Even though Lee fought for the South (not for slavery, but for states' rights...which people are mis-directed on that issue of the point of the Civil War.) he was a very important figure in history.
I think we should be "holidaying" for President's Day...not MLK. If not for the Emancipation Proclamation, MLK wouldn't have stood a chance. Give credit where credit is due.

Congress establishing a holiday is one thing. Unscheduled closing of government offices to "honor" the death of a person of note is quite another. How does funding another paid holiday for govt. employees and removing govt. services from the taxpayers when the private sector continues business as usual honor someone?
