The Da Vinci Code

And I finally saw this on DVD this weekend. Not bad. However, I'm not sure you could follow it easily if you didn't read the book. But I'm stunned this movie didn't receive more criticism from the Christian community. The basic premise is that Jesus wasn't the son of God because he married Mary Magdalene and fathered a child. (I'm not sure why that would disqualify him, but it's one of the many questions I had about the book/movie.)

You think you were confused. Me and one of my friends went out and had a good time and then went to see this movie in the theater. To make a long story short, we walked in the wrong room and the movie was ending in 30 minutes and we had no idea. We thought we were there in time and we did not understand why the movie appeared to be starting from the end. We sat confused trying to figure out what was going on and then all of a sudden the credits began to roll.

I remember my first acid trip too but it was nowhere as interesting as yours.

As usual, the book was much better. And yes, without reading the book the movie would be very hard to understand. Well acted and well filmed but when you have only 2 hours to cram in the story - shortcuts are required.

We watched it just the other night. When Tom Hanks was trying to figure out the code, I said "You need to drink your Ovaltine".

Seriously I really missed that as the whole point...I just thought it was about the fact that Jesus had actual ancestors and that girl was his grand daughter way down the road

Yeah, I don't remember it saying that he wasn't the son of God, just that he had a more normal life (wife & kids) than the Bible lets on.

It was realized by the Christian community as well as all other communities that it is just fiction....ridiculous granted...nonetheless fiction.

How else could a book based upon bible stories be anything but fiction?
