We have Santa come to our Christmas Eve mass and kneel at the baby Jesus. I think it blends the two traditions beautifully. That said - nothing in electric BRIGHT light on your lawn is truely respectful to the baby Jesus.
No, it is stupid to have Santa at a mass kneeling to the baby Jesus. What do you do for Easter? Do you have the Easter Bunny come and pull back the stone to find Christ missing from his tomb?
I don't really care if folks mix their pagan symbols. As long as they do it on their property, they can do these silly celebrations whenever they like.
