Somehow, Our Country Is Still Functioning

Despite the President's urging this week, the Senate failed to pass the no-gay-marriage constitutional amendment. In fact, it didn't even get a majority (it needed 2/3 to pass). But, never fear, the two Texas senators voted in favor of the sanctity of marriage, including the once divorced Kay Bailey Hutchison. ------------ "Marriage is not in trouble because of 50% of marriages ending in gayness." --Jon Stewart

This was all just a dog and pony show - Bush (and other Republicans) wanted to show the ultra conservatives that they are fighting for conservative America - knowing full well it would never pass. Now they can shrug their shoulders (hands in the air) and say "we tried."

Kay Bailey Hutchison? (gag) - the ultimate good mother who adopted a child in her old age, kept her limelight job and has somebody else raising it.

Ah, yes the sanctity of the family. She will likely earn her place in a James Dobson book.

9:03 is right. It's a dog and pony show.
