I've been seeing a lot of commercials supporting the repeal of the Wright Amendment (bought by Southwest) and against the repeal (bought by American). Question: Why the commercials? We don't vote on the issue.
Come to think of it, when is Congress ever going to vote on it.
It gives me Confused Head.

A couple of years ago Alabama's delegation made a big push, complaining about high air fares to Dallas, and wanting Southwest to have the freedom to fly to Birmingham from Dallas. And Southwest made a huge deal of it, too. Today, Southwest is free to fly direct to Birmingham, but guess what? You aren't, because they offer no direct flights. Gotta go through Houston. Plus, Southwest offers service from DFW now anyway. Don't believe me? Go look at Southwest's web site and check schedules.
If you cut into American's hub, then those flights to Grandma's house in Sioux Falls, Amarillo, and other small markets that people here think will get cheaper if Love Field is opened up will get REALLY cheap. They will go away, and believe me Southwest is not going to have those flights either. So many destinations we take for granted from DFW exist ONLY because those people can be funnelled onto major market flights at DFW. Start chopping off American's flights to those big markets, and you lose the hub dynamic. That's what's going to happen.
I'm sick to DEATH of the "Wright's Right" sign on my main thoroughfare in town....I may drive up into her yard just to make the stupid sign go a-w-a-y.
Personally, I hate monopolies. Hello? Very definition of the word....I say let Love Field have an opportunity...give me a choice. I LOVE shopping the market.
Love field needs to go away and everyone needs to move to DFW. Common sense tells you that it is more cost effective to run one airport rather than two. DFW is not running at its full potential because.
Love Field should have the same opportunities as DFW. AA would disagree because it might hurt them economically.
