Crime Stoppers Fees

Channel 5 just told me that Wise County Crime Stoppers would pay up to $1,000 for tips leading to the arrest (and conviction?) of anyone using fireworks over the July 4th holidays. Question: I know that every person who ends up on a misdemeanor probation (and that is a ton of people) pays $50 to the Crime Stoppers fund. I seriously doubt that the fund ever pays out many rewards. I wonder how much money is sitting in the Wise County Crime Stoppers Fund. (If anybody at the Treasurer's Office or Sheriff's Office emails me with the answer, I'll tell you.)

Thanks. That would be good to know. From me experience, they don't give out information too easily.

They don't even give out the Wise County Crime Stoppers phone number.

More money in Meth production and buying off local polations than turning someone in.

What would the fine be for shooting off fireworks? You could have your friend shoot off some fireworks and turn him in. He gets fined you get the reward pay off his fine and spilt what is left over.

Don't people on felony probation have to pay it too?

I called Walker and he says that the Crime Stoppers Money is not under his control. Although he said that a press release sent out from his office always has he crime stoppers information at the bottom of the page. He doubts that Crime Stoppers will give out money for fireworks violations. He told me that they would go broke in 15 minutes.

I have an idea, maybe Warren Beaty could give some money to Wise County Crime Stoppers.

Umm..... Why Warren Beaty?

I find it amazing the number of people who just call the sheriff and ask him question of things that come up from this blog. In the past there have been several mentions of people who have said I called the sheriff and asked him whatever. Most the time it is stupid stuff like this.
Maybe he (Walker) is just a good ole boy who doesn't mind people wasting his time or maybe he has the time to waste???

I think he has the time to waste. Just look at the picture of him and the fireworks.

Don't Bug me

He is far more than a good o boy. If more of our pollutions were this accessible we would have far less problems. Get your head out. I am sure he dose not want to be answering questions about this blog. The fact that he has a constituent stupid enough to call and waste his time is not his fault. He is being a good Sheriff and answering his phone.

Check the Sheriff's Office Website, and Click on the Crime Stoppers icon.

"A board of prominent citizens oversees the Crime Stoppers program and approves the rewards to be paid, based on information presented by the Law Enforcement Coordinator. This board does not know who called in the information. The board is presented the facts and the code number is the only identifier used."

I know some of the citizens on this board, and they are upstanding individuals, AND, the program works!
