Al Qaeda Hates Coors Light

From the Update: "THREATS TO CAMPAIGN — Bridgeport Police Department reported Monday that terroristic threats have been made to Jennifer Walker, who is involved with a campaign to call an election for the legalized sale of alcoholic beverages for off-premise consumption in Bridgeport. Walker has received two letters and vandalism to her home. Police said they plan to interview a couple of people in the case. " (Actually, "terroristic threat" is so widely defined under the Texas Penal Code that it is hard for some people to get in an argument without committing an offense.)

If she didn't campaign in her fur coat it wouldn't have been a problem.

She is perfectly within her rights to do what she is doing.

It will be interesting to see who these folks are.

You want to hear something funny, call Sheriff Walker (brother of Jennifer Walker) and ask him about it. I just did and he mentioned several phrases that are definately a show of suppor tof his sister:

"Bullshit"
"Childish"
"Stupid people"
"Non-Christian behavior"

I asked our Sheriff if he signed the petition and he said "yes, I did and you know I drink a few beers every now and again. I drank a few before I got elected, and I will drink a few now.....I don't see what the big deal is, if people don't want to drink, don't buy the crap!"

I have known the Sheriff for a while and he is animated with everything he does. He did not go as far as Mar Cuban's recent interview but left the impression with me that he would rather say "f$%k 'em"

9:18.. you exploiting your "friendship" with the Sheriff, are ya? What's that saying..."with friends like you, who needs enemies!"

Where's does it say they were friends. It just said he/she has known him for awhile. It didn't say they were live long buddies.

I personally don't want to see alcohol sold in Bridgeport, BUT, given the opportunity, I will sign the petition just because I think it should be UP TO THE VOTERS TO DECIDE. I don't understand why these wackos don't even want the voters to have the opportunity to voice their opinion at the ballot box. Actually, I do know why: the voters will eventually say yes. But that should be their choice.

Look around you and wonder who, or which family, will be the first wiped out by someone that was having a bad day, loaded up at the nearest store in Bridgeport cuz it was so convenient, got smashed, then remembered he (or she) needed to get back over to Mama's house. Will you or a car full of your family members, friends, or students be the ones coming in the opposite direction at the wrong time? How do you know?

Anon 11:28 I agree with you. I do however think the harassment of Mrs. Walker is childish. Typical for some of the crap that I have seen before.

Come On Guys! (The ones who do not want alcohol sold in Bridgeport) Surely you are aware that alcohol is sold already at Lake Bridgeport and Runaway Bay which are both short distances away. Hint, that's where folks buy it (that live in Bridgeport)now and have been since they began selling it there. What difference does it make if they sell it in Bridgeport. Oh, I know, you appose a "Beer Buyer" to save on gas by buying it closer. DUH!

To anon 12:05 let me first say that I don't agree with drinking and driving, but you are making it sound like there is no place in Wise county someone can purchase such a beverage then drive after they drink it. Come on do you not know about the Bay and the beer store in Lake Bridgeport? The same people that drink and drive now are the same people that will do it if alcohol is available in Bridgeport. Just b/c the store in Bridgeport sells instead of having to go to the Bay makes no difference.

Does not matter if you are for or against....Bridgeport will get to keep the tax dollars that now go to Decatur, Runaway Bay, or Lake Bridgeport...why not let the tax $'s stay in Bridgeport????

I never heard of a drive of a few extra miles stopping an addict from getting what he/she needs. If a drunk is going to get drunk, they will find a way. I dont think alcohol sales in Bridgeport is really going to change much.

I really havent heard about a rise in alcohol related crimes or accidents in Decatur since we passed the alcohol sales here.

My guess is the threats and vandalism were an inside job done by the supporters to get sympathy for their cause and induce people (like some of these bloggers) to sign the petition.

I don't buy the notion that someone who is against alcohol sales would do this. Everyone knows who is behind this effort to approve sales.

I bet the mystery "terrorists" are never found.

Who is behind the effort to approve the sales? Enquiring minds would like to know....

I am a little suspicious of you. Are you covering something up by passing blame?
