Final Mavs Thoughts

1. Incredible. 2. I hate basketball for this reason: Every time down the court a foul can be called. Sometimes it is. Sometimes it isn't. There is no rhyme or reason to it. That makes the sport unpredictable and hardly a sport at all. 3. If you want to watch the final shot via youtube.com, you can do so here. 4. Was there a foul on the final shot? Youtube.com clip is here. 5. In football, 98% of the time only the most obvious fouls are called. Let's bring on September. 6. All that being said, the Heat were simply better. 7. Oh, yeah, I am a basketball genius.

That was horrific refereeing in that game. The Mavs had only shot 3 foul shots part way through the 3rd quarter. The refs treat Wade like Tim Duncan. If an opponent is within a zip code when he shoots, they call a foul. In my opinion, the refs gave Miami the game. At least 10 of Wade's points came from free throws where there was not a foul. I think it's pathetic.

Thank God African handball is over for a few months.

I hate to join in on the "refs gave it away" group, but the officials did seem to be inconsistent and slanted to Miami.

As for that last shot - someone pulled on Terry's jersey BEFORE the shot. If they had called a foul, he'd only get 2 shots. So they would have had to make one and intentionally miss the second and hope to put back the rebound.

The last games were way too influenced by refs.

Hell, I'll join the league of bad sports and blame it on the refs. Here's to the rightful winners of the 2006 NBA Championship. THE DALLAS MAVERICKS!!!

I've never been a basketball fan, and wouldn't necessarily call myself one now, but I watched the last four minutes of a couple of the games, and they were really exciting. Also, just the buzz that's been all over the place is exciting, and I felt really sad for the faithful fans out there. Tomorrow will be a gloomy day in Texas:( Hang in there ladies and gents...there's always next year!

My hat is off to our Dallas Mavericks. Look at what they did...first trip to the NBA Finals...with a first year coach. We have nothing to hang out heads about.

Mavs deserved to lose the way they played last night.
Here's the scene, with 7:00 minutes left...tie score...in Miami is in the penalty...Shaq has 5 fouls...Mavs have only fouled Miami one time...Mavs are one of the best free throw shooting teams in the NBA....What do you do? What do you do?

GO TO THE F-ING RACK!!!!!! DO NOT SETTLE FOR JUMP SHOTS, DRIVE TO THE HOLE!!!! THREE THINGS CAN HAPPEN AND TWO OF THEM ARE GOOD. SO ANNOYING, IT WAS THERE FOR THE TAKING!!!

Amen 9:05

They had their chances to win no matter how crappy the refs were. I didn't think they played the aggressive b-ball that got them to the finals. Also make somebody other than DWade beat you. If you had to give up an open shot to Posey or Haslem chances are they won't be as consistent as DWade.

Mavs played sloppy ball last night. They didn't deserve last night's game. I'm a Mavs fan, but they gave it away last night. Poor ball handling, poor shooting, stupid fouls (at stupid times). When you're a champion, can't play like that and not expect it to be taken away. So, it was.

I kept looking for a Steve Kerr or even a Nick Van Exel type to come off the bench and hit 3 consecutive 3 pointers in the fourth quarter but the Mavs don't have that person.
