Runaway Bay Fire?

I'm getting reports of a pretty big fire in Runaway Bay with multiple fire departments responding. It can be seen from the bridge over Lake Bridgeport.

It seems to be getting bigger. The wind is not helping.

Does anyone have any more info on this fire.

Seems multiple fire departments were called for an assist. The fire was actually in HideAway Bay back behind the old pool-not Runaway Bay.
We hear there are just not enough members in VFDs willing to give of their time to fight these fires.
Then you have the careless, often malicious people who are responsible for the fires which endanger the fire units as well as the people who live in these semi-remote areas.
Apathy is the culprit....

Anon 10:37,
It may be that certain VFD's turn corrupt and honest people would LOVE to volunteer and do have experience, but don't want to be associated in an organization that includes misapropriation of funds and theft of property.
Also there is often careless, malicious people who are responsible for the fires which endanger the fire units as well as the people who live in these semi-remote areas....that also volunteer for a wonderful FD. Now that is my kind of organization that I want to be apart of. 10-4, bubba?

Wow, so long without a post from the fire affected area. Seems like this would be big news from those parts. No computers in Runaway/Hideaway Bay? Or, do Runaway/Hideaway Bay folks use their computers for other kinds of things besides local catching-up.

5:21 Let's not lump Hideaway Bay with Runaway Bay. Runaway Bay has a VFD (however incompetent) Hideaway Bay has primaily a bunch of trailer folks. Several VFD's responded to the fire and got it under control. I don't understand your reference to "computers". What does that have to do with a large range fire?

In other words, not much computer chatter on a blog that, ordinarily, will have far more posts on things far less immediately pertinent. Big boobies, for instance, will get a dozen or more responses. Found it curious to see only a couple posts and wondered whether or not the folks in that area had computers, internet, etc. Didn't confuse Runaway Bay and Hideaway Bay, noted them separately as it should be. Didn't mean to offend anyone in Hideaway Bay, for sure.

You couldn't offend your relatives in Hideaway Bay - they probabaly don't have a computer and most can't read anyway. They do have some of the best prices for home cooked meth, tho.

You complain about the vfd's out here. I understand bad people sometimes join these groups but thats the fd that makes a good news story. Yes I agree most of these guys couldn't find the door to the rocket factory but we really need them. Your other option would be a full time county fd. How much do you want to spend next year in taxes? The other option would be to let the fire burn itself out. That,of course, could help with the number of trailers out here.
