Movie Flashbacks

War of the Worlds is awful. Sideways is great. Million Dollar Baby is horrendous. 8mm (and old one I just rented) is very, very good.

Okay, okay...we all have our own opinion on movies, but how was "Sideways" great? I couldn't even finish the thing...and I love wine and Paul Giamatti. War of the Worlds was pretty good in a bizarre kinda way, and I've only seen parts of the other two, so I'll take your word for it! On a side note, though...Harry Potter and The Goblet of Fire is jolly good...tell me you're a fan, Barry:)

Well, thanks for the heads up--just got 'War of the Worlds' from Netflix yesterday. We'll see...'Million Dollar Baby' screwed itself by putting in the euthanasia nonsense. But, that's probably exactly why Hollywood loved it. 'Sideways' ROCKED! [lovelit, maybe you didn't have enough wine WITH the movie? lol] I vaguely remember '8mm,' but at first, I thought you were talking about that Eminem movie & figured you'd finally lost your mind....

I'm with 11:55..couldn't even finish Sideways....totally awful flick! Hated Million Dollar Baby, too. Like Harry Potter, though!

I wonder--those of you who didn't like "War of the Worlds"--was it because you couldn't get the image of Tom Cruise jumping up and down on a couch out of your mind? LOL

8mm was a very good movie but also very disturbing and depressing. Has an early Joaquin Phoenix and a great as always Nicolas Cage.

I can't bring myself to watch Sideways afraid that it will be another Lost in Translation which just completely lost me as to what was so great about it.

Anon @ 10:57....LOL! You're so right...bless your heart. The "Academy" just loves certain movies--I'm a huge Oscar fan--but I know that you kind of have to put on the 'What the Hell Is Weird About This Movie to Appreciate It?' cap to enjoy some flicks.

At the close of 'Lost in Translation,' my husband just looked at me with The Look. ;-) As Barry would put it, notagood.

8mm terrified me. Ladies do NOT watch by yourself when your husband is not home. I would not recommend this movie to anyone. It scared the beejeebies out of me. Not good at all.
