Ten Marines Are . . .

. . . dead after a recent bomb in Iraq. Let's figure a way to get out of there. Please.

Almost as many dead as the number killed by drunk drivers in the last 24 hours. Why don't we do something about that? Like stop getting them off.

The best way out is to finish the job.

Are there any performance measures that will tell us when it is finished? Or is it sort of like pornography - can't define it but we will know it when we see it?

Sounds like anon at 1:47pm has their own agenda......and not related to this blog subject.

The job will never be finished!!!! We can stay there for 20 years and it will still fall into chaos when we leave. It is time to bring home the brave, fine young soldiers who should not have to shed their blood in this lost cause.

Let's be intelligent enough, and strong enough to keep the war over there. More that ten of us at a time will die otherwise. (9-11)

I get so tired of people trying to tie Iraq to 9/11.

OK, once more: kill 'em all, take the oil, send the wife shopping. It's us or them. Global stage, people, think outside your neighborhood. Manifest destiny.

Here's the deal:

We should not have gone in the first place. I don't believe that Iraq had WMDs and I don't believe it was a haven for terrorists.

That being said....

Now it's a different story. I think that if we don't finish the job, it very well may end up in a state of anarchy....and a place that could potentially breed terrorists. Basically, I'm saying....We f**ked up....so now we need to fix our own f**k up and not tuck our tail between our legs and leave.

I'm basing my argument on information from talking to several individuals that I have spoken with who have actually been in Iraq and come back.

...i agree with bigcatdaddy and think if Bush would just say something similar to the American people, we would understand...

...what absolutely galls me about this President is how he has used the Christian community to promote his viewpoints about this war....

....how does he sleep at night?

I am so amazed that there are people ignorant enough not to tie Iraq to 9-11 or any other terrorist theatre.

Are you saying Iraq has never had WMD's? When Clinton was explaining why he was bombing the heck out of Iraq, he said it was because of their WMD's, their nuclear capabilities, their threat to the world etc. Was he lying when he said that?

Also, at one point during the United Nations inspections in the early 90's, they inventoried exactly all the WMD's they had and knew the amounts down to the ounce. Also, they used them against Iran and the Kurds (sp?). So, we know they have had them at one time or another. The question is, what happened to them? Did they destroy them like the UN had demanded or hide them in their country or another country? Who knows, but just because they haven't been found doesn't mean they don't exist.

On a side note. Now the administration is being criticized for its use of positive stories in the Iraqi press. I agree that if the stories are false, that should be criticized. However, if they were true stories--only our "free" press would find something bad about someone trying to get the Iraqi people to see that the majority of life there has changed in an IMPROVED way. Remember folks, you could make Wise County seem as deadly and dangerous as Iraq, if all that was reported was gloom, doom, death and destruction. In other words, BEWARE--our "free" press is at work again!!

This is not Vietnam. So many liberals think we messed up in Vietnam, so we must have messed up in Iraq. We didn't. It isn't. I can not believe the libs are so stuck back in the past!
