I agree with it 100%!! When I was a kid, it was embarassing to someone if people knew they were on welfare or free lunches or foodstamps. Or, for that matter, unemployment. I've never taken a penney of any of it and never will. It all needs to be on a VERY temporary basis and needs to be policed for freeloaders. In Canada, you take any kind of social assistance, you don't vote. You make your income from taxpayer dollars, you don't vote. It is the definition of a conflict of interest. PERIOD!! They also require a Canadian photo ID, a certified copy or your original birth certificate. We need to take the same approach to this problem.

That story is bullsh. Lone Star cards can't be used for beer and cigarettes. It's a computer controlled transaction that checks product UPC's against approved items. Any non approved items are kicked out and must be paid by some method other than a LS Card.
If it was paid for by LS, then the store is submitting a false item code to the state. This is highly unlikely because the state checks sales records and it would be easily caught. Retailers have too much to lose if they are caught defrauding.
Do they allow people to buy junk food instead of wholesome food? Yes. But you can't buy beer and cigarettes with a LS Card.
If I have to pass a drug test to keep my JOB- then people should have to pass a drug test to receive assistance! I mean it is MY tax dollars that is paying for these programs!!

1) Let's look at all of our drug laws and see if we need to make any changes.
2) Let's improve education so that people understand better why some drugs are illegal.
3) Let's create programs to help those that are addicted.
4) Let's prosecute and punish ALL drug users equally, in a way that benefits society.
5) Let's reform our courts and prison system so that it does not feed off of the poor.
6) And finally, Let's do random testing in other areas too.
