Random Wednesday Morning Thoughts

  • Southlake is getting a new hotel along 114 which has a race track inside of it. Yep, a race track.
  • Paul Ryan recently said that he had run a  "a two hour and fifty-something" marathon.  The more I think about that, the more it bugs me.  Records show he has competed in one marathon back in 1990 and finished with a time of four hours and one minute. How could he be so wrong. For anyone who has completed a marathon, their time is etched into their brain.
  • Michelle Obama was fantastic last night.
  • I've always talked about how changing demographics play right into the Democrats hands.  And looking at the audience at the convention last night, it looked like a cross-section of America. Not a cross-section of Wise County mind you, but America.
  • Mark Davis this morning: "What does it matter what the color is of the faces looking up at Michelle Obama?" Oh, it matters. It matters a lot.
  • Man, I wish someone had a video of this: Glenn Beck through a hissy fit on an American Airlines plane at DFW.
  • I'm not sure this is a good sign (from the Update): "Of the 100 new students [at Weatherford College's new Wise County campus], 44 are enrolled in new programs – 20 in nursing and 24 in cosmetology."
  • As much as I don't care about the NFL, I'm kind of excited about the Cowboys in New York tonight. (Although one reporter, who thinks way too much of himself, just tweeted that it is "pouring" up there this morning.)
  • I bag on TCU from time to time, but the renovations to their stadium look fantastic. Here's a panoramic view of it. And with a certain win against Grambling this weekend, curmudgeon Gary Patterson becomes the all-time winningest TCU coach ever.
  • There's a national sports columnist who tweets the most annoying thing all the time: "Someone throw me a mobile friendly link to my latest column."
  • I've seen the headline of a man getting 80 years in prison last week out of Tarrant County for his ninth DWI about a million times. But for some reason a man getting Life in prison for DWI out of Ellis County has been generally ignored. Even though it is his second Life sentence for DWI.
  • Nothing has faded from view like the Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Labor Day Telethon.  Lewis is no longer associated with it and it's no longer a televised telethon.
  • Walked outside yesterday to find a bird bath and a bench in our front yard. Mrs. LL was hit with Lawn Motivation.
  • Want to see a fat lady lying on the floor of WFAA studios before the 10:00 o'clock newscast last night? How could you not?

Are all marathons televised or on the news?

Michelle Obama is a much better person than I am. I would have a hard time supporting a man who clearly has other intentions for America than what he is feeding the uneducated ones, has sealed simple education information about himself that he should be proud of and doesn't care one bit about his family.

16 Trillion is the "kiss of death" for the Democrats! Obama failed miserably by not passing a budget, spending too much time playing golf, and blaming Bush on high unemployment. Borrowing from China to pay our bills while spending political capitol to push through ObamaCare is not a record to win re-election!
I didn't watch Michelle Obama's speeck last night but read she said that "Obama is just like us". Well, I did not grow up on the top floor of a downtown penthouse in Honululu or attend an exclusive prep school while being mentored by a known communist! I don't know anything about his college years (grades, friends, etc.) I earned my living by building a small business so I don't share his "community organizing" experience. My pastors did not preach "God damm America" from the publpit. So, I'm not like Obama and thank God for that!

Is the left wing radical Democratic party anything like Wise County? No, the Great Society Democrtic party of Lyndon Johnson is long gone, hijacked by Socialist, Markists and looney left wing radicals.

"Changing demographics" Indeed. Your implication is that blacks and Hispanics will vote Democrat as a block forever. I suppose that as long as it's socially acceptable to call a black Republican Uncle Tom, house ni***r, and other racial epithets for being a Republican, you may be correct. However, to believe that people of color will walk in political lockstep, with no changes of attitude or political outlook regardless of what their party does to them, reflects your doubt on their ability to change with circumstances. I've got another question about the future of the parties. What happens when Democrats run out of taxpayer money to bribe voters with?

Encouraging illegal immigration may give the Democrats dominance for many decades to come. So they have sold their country for a few votes and political power. Demographics change, people migrate. Sorry that intelligence is not coming with the immigration. The results of IQ tests are not racist, they are fact. Show me one country in South America or in Africa that is considered a world power. That is where we are going in the next 100 years. The life expectancy of a democracy is 200 years. I need to swallow my diamonds and board a ship out of this place.

The grandchildren and step-grandchildren of you liberals will not have the America that you and your parents were born into. You are destroying their heritage.

Or, to put it another way, $4 trillion spent over eight years fighting wars that arguable prevented the above scenarios is still less than the $5.4 trillion added during Obama's 43 months. So the question is, How many votes will $5.4 trillion buy?

It's so..ironic that the newsmedia is so giddy about this convention vs last week's. Funny how they slammed and keep slamming anything to do with the RNC, but the DNC?? Never!! Nightline was so easy to watch last night--Fast forwarding through all that makes for a short episode.

And, I, too, wonder why one needed an ID to get into this convention, yet no ID is required to vote...hmmm

3. Her handlers have worked on that smirk.
4. That veggie diet is not helping those hips, whew.

On any day out in WC is see Asians, African-Americans, Hispanics and Middle Easterners....just saying. The color of a particular political party doesn't guarantee good policy for this nation. The current war on Anglos is a good example. I will agree it doesn't compare to what minorities faced many, many years ago, but this current war on whites is a very troubling thing to be instigated by the POTUS. I could understand if this war was created by some radical minority militia bent on destroying the US, but the fact that it was declared and funded by our leader is unsettling.

Since we can neither turn back the clocks nor rewrite history, emphasis must be placed on the creation of a more inclusive society. We must proceed forward whether we like it or not. Yesterday shall never return, however, and the RNC must come to grips with this reality.

"Yesterday shall never return, however, and the RNC must come to grips with this reality."

This statement is simply incorrect. History repeats itself, over and over again. People never seem to learn the lessons of tyranny.

Is imposed order more important than freedom? You know, in regard to discussions about the US, it is a mute point as long as we continue to pretend to abide by the Constitution...

We have way too many lawyers in government, Barry. Heck, we've got way too many people employed by the government (largest employer in the US).

History repeats itself and before yesterday returns, there are sure to be harsh times.

I am sorry but anyone who thinks EITHER party is a defender of the constitution must still have to take retests on personality tests.

Today's parties both epitomize the legacy of the "New Deal" and how it has warped America. The Republicans have had to completely overhaul their ideologies due to the fact that people keep voting Democrats into office.

It is our fault the US is in its current state. We keep voting people in that keep trying t pay for everything. Even the legendary Reagan fell prey to several bills that had socialist agendas during his second term.

Give up on choosing sides. There is only moderate , conservative and liberal socialists in the current two party system.

1:49, but those are all low wage jobs...people working part time, and taking jobs they are overqualified for, just to get by. You have to look at it a little deeper than that there bucko. If that 23 month streak was so important and hot, we would see other ecomomic indicators jumping off the charts. Construction would be up, more stability in the financial markets, real lowering in unemployment, signifigant gains in consumer spending, decreased personal debt, and increased savings. Nice try, now go educate yourself a little more so you don't waste your vote come 'lection time.

I love it when someone glosses over an oversimplified article they think backs up there political choices. So typical of the young liberal....all full of piss and vinager, fresh off a lecture from some limp wristed twig boy professor, with no chance until they get some real world education.

"It means women, gays, poor and minorities" What means that? Treating them as equals as human beings, or convincing them that they're helpless without government help?
Helping them believe in themselves and become fulfilled as people, or making a dependent class out of them?
Making victims out of them through language, policy, and law? Is that what you call "inclusive?"

Obama was against gay marriage until gay campaign donors quit giving him money. Suddenly he had an epiphany and gay marriage was great! Now that's honest, sincere inclusiveness. (However, Obama also referred to his grandmother as "a typical white person." So his sincerity might be in question.)

Joe Biden: "They're gonna put y'all back in chains!" A true moment of inclusive thinking.

"Including them in the process." Again, platitudes that sound high-minded but contain no meaning. What process? Voting? There's no disagreement that every eligible citizen should vote. Pandering is how the parties get those votes. Legislation? Very few members of any of the groups you mentioned actually have any input into legislation. Being able to make a living? There's the real difference. Liberal philosophy would have citizens depend on government first, and have the ability to make a living second. "Government is the one thing we all belong to" says one Democrat video. That's the definition of Democrat "inclusiveness."
