Random Monday Morning Thoughts

  • Warren Buffett over the last month has bought the newspapers that cover Waco and College Station. That makes no sense.
  • The internet was abuzz with "Mark Cuban destroys Skip Bayless" on Friday.  I think the headline should have been "Skip Bayless Doesn't Know How To Debate."  Cuban's position that no player "wants it more" than any other player is nonsensical. Case in point: Lamar Odom (who Cuban was in denial about for months.)
  • 106 degrees today? (The Update says 100 but I've been in the weather lab.)
  • And who in their right mind scheduled a Rangers game for last Saturday afternoon? And who in their right mind would have gone?
  • New York Post: Ann Curry will get $10 million when booted from The Today Show.
  • I've had this weird wart appear on my hand (and I never get warts). And it hurts. It has me so creeped out I think I'll go to the doctor.
  • Over the weekend Dallas police shot their thirteen person this year. Good grief.
  • A year ago there was a sexual assault on the streets of Dallas after a young lady watched a Mavs game with friends.  I remember The Ticket mentioning it and it sounded like a host or co-worker knew the girl.  Today the Morning News profiles her after she has gone public with a description of the attack.
  • The people on the courthouse steps cheering after the Sandusky verdict haven't been around many criminal trials. Neither side celebrates very often.
  • And Sandusky's lawyer doesn't quite understand what his job is.
  • A male Nocona teacher received probation for Improper Relationship.
  • Two women vying for a place on the U.S. Olympic Track Team in the 100 meters tied for third place over the weekend with a time of  11.068 seconds. Now they will flip a coin
  • I would tell you how many episodes of Lost Mrs. LL has watched but you'd think she was certifiable.

What a Bufugly looking chick! That's a lousy way to start the week, Barry.

Make sure the doctor you go to is a dermatologist in regards to the wart and not your family doctor.

Northstar Dermatology on North Tarrant Parkway is a great place.

I saw the Cuban interview on "first take" and he's right.

At the end of every playoff series or finals every player says... "we worked harder and wanted it more."

What Cuban was saying is that no one doesn't work hard and want it more when you get to that level. They all want it and work hard for it when they win.

It didn't reach 100 in the metroplex until Sunday?? We made it to 100 in Colorado Springs both Saturday and Sunday for only the 5th and 6th times in HISTORY. Argh.

I'm not sure how the zombie apocalypse will begin, but today's RTG pic will be the image of "how it all began" that most people have afterward.

I could say that Buffet's reputation should trump any odd investment criticism from us, but wow, I'm looking forward to seeing how the profit is made from this deal.

He could know something we don't, but I bet this is going to be another "windmill" disaster.

I teach High School and I'd be a buck that no minority has smoked a black and mild or any of it's variants that was not loaded with weed. I am not convinced that anyone smokes those shitty things without weed in them.

As for shooting 13 suspects in a year I'd say thats a good start but they need to pick up the pace.

Penalty for being dumb enough to tell a cop F off and then pull a gun on him - death. I'm OK with that.

Teacher that has been told F off by thugs that I wish I could have shot.

Zombie apocalypse after the pole shift?

"The next highest die-off will be in heavily populated areas where feeding the survivors simply cannot be done. Anyone crawling from NYC will find themselves in suburbs, endless suburbs, with no expertise in gathering or growing food. Mexico City is likewise so afflicted, in the numbers it houses that cannot possible escape and dilute their numbers into the countryside, so as to feed themselves. The only food available will be each other, fellow survivors." Per the Zeta's

Buffet buying smaller newspapers makes plenty of sense. First, he's Warren Buffett, and knows more than you. Second, smaller towns are largely closed markets with little competition. So they generally get their info from one source and if that has to be paid for in print and on line, they'll pay for it. He's basically controlling information in small, closed markets.

wordkyle posting about women is lame. Wonder why he's not crying about the court's decision to strike down almost all of Arizona's immigration law? Wasn't this the act of a highly liberal court legislating from the bench? No? Obama's fault? No?

Not much room for his usual schtick, I guess, so he just shuts up about it altogether.

His silence beats his usual lies, I guess.

106 degrees today? Maybe tomorrow. Where is all that electricity that we were promised we would get from wind? It is not here according to the official source:

http://www.ercot.com/content/gridinfo/generation/windintegration/2012/06/ERCOT%20Wind%20Integration%20Report%2006-24-121.pdf

Just when we need the most electricity the wind stops blowing. Wind turbines sound like a stupid idea based on this happening every summer and on those cold calm winter mornings when we crank up the central heat systems. With all that money spent on turbines we probably could have replaced every inefficient cooling/heating system in Texas. That would have caused a drastic reduction in power consumption and resulted in lower electrical bills, money in the pockets of citizens, and jobs in the a/c industry.

No, I do not own an a/c company, am just a mad scientist.

Or......YOU are the vet? You made twenty bucks by putting the dog down?
