Random Tuesday Morning Thoughts

  • How long have they had commercials completely in Spanish on Fox Sports Southwest? (I got a "I told you this already!" from Mrs. LL last night.)
  • My new consecutive pitch and catch to the backstop streak reached 58 last night. The imaginary crowd in my mind was really into it.
  • I had a minor oil spill in my driveway on Saturday when I was changing the oil on my lawnmower. As I scrambled like I was trying to contain the BP disaster in the Gulf of Mexico, I remembered I heard a trick about kitty litter. Thank goodness (finally) for the Family Cat, kitty litter worked like a miracle!
  • A carjacking at a private school in Arlington yesterday left one woman seriously injured. (With tuition like this, they might want to consider some private security.)
  • The judge in the Deion Sanders case found yesterday that neither he or his wife committed family violence. What he should have said is, "The court denies the petition for protective order of both parties. The court further finds that both parties and the lawyers should be ashamed of themselves."
  • I think anyone who is a "storm chaser" is also a drama queen.
  • I'd withhold judgment on the Jane McGarry DWI case. Getting pulled over for "failure to signal a lane change" is a good start to defense case and, trust me, "failing" the walk and turn test and the one leg stand test means absolutely nothing. (That DPS scoring system is beyond ridiculous.) Let me see the tape, and I'll tell you whether she'll be convicted or not.
  • By the way, McGarry was taken off the air yesterday by KXAS. I could see them using the DWI as an excuse to exercise some cost-cutting.
  • I wonder if this will cause an rumors today in the country music world: The first name listed on the Tarrant County Medical Examiner' web site says Randy Rogers died last night. (Not that Randy Rogers.)
  • Good point on the Mavs this morning heard on The Ticket: This has not been the Mark Cuban era over the last 10 years, this has been the Dirk ere. And Dirk was here before Cuban.
  • I got persuaded into buying Ranger tickets a couple of months ago for Sunday because it was "Girl Scouts Night"  (Yep, Kid In The House instigated.)  I figured it would be some spare game if they were running that promotion. But I'll be dang. It's the Angels. Anyone know the projected starters? Yu? C.J. Wilson?
  • Courtney Stodden is at it again.
  • A Texas DA has been charged with bribery and other seedy crimes.

Men have selective hearing.

I don't know who Randy Rogers is.

Just like a lawyer...trying to make Jane sound innocent. No matter, if she has 15000 or so laying around she won't go to jail again. If she has even more, and I am sure she does, she will totally be found innocent...money talks and bs walks.

Glad to hear your cat is finally earnng its keep.

Take a long hard look @ political corruption in the Brownsville, Edinburg, McAllen, Harlingen area and over the past ten years or so, it is by far and away the worst in the entire state. I wonder if there's a particular reason for that?

I think the judgment-withholding on Jane will stop as soon as the results of the blood test are returned. Slurred speech from somebody who reads words for a living is not a-good. Plus, she admitted to having three glasses of wine.
I'd be willing to bet the "failure to signal" was accompanied by some other erratic behavior that aroused suspicion.
Your cost-cutting conjecture is probably accurate, though. She's getting long in the tooth also, so that's a safe bet
On the up side, she may finally have the time to snag that Carly box she's been coveting all these years!

"commercials completely in Spanish" - My relatives who came to the Hill Country of Texas from Germany all learned the language of Texas.

I once picked up a Dallas Morning News paper with the idea of reading it when I got back to Wise County that evening. I should have taken a closer look at it before buying it because it was all in Spanish.

The Aztec speak Spanish and so will your grandchildren. Throughout history people have migrated and nothing has changed. Wake up and you might get a clue of how rapidly this is occurring.

Goodbye Jane. Hello Meredith. It's obvious this "incident" will lead to a shake-up. Keeping news "fresh" includes the face that is presenting it to the public. For all we know, Meredith fed her those 3 glasses of wine to hurry up the process of taking over.

I read the whole article about the corrupt Texas DA and no mention of his party afilliation. So I had to look it up and SURPRISE, SURPRISE. He's a liberal weenie. Of course had he been a Republican, it would have said so in the first sentence.

Counselor perhaps you could conduct a little scientific experiment. Time yourself at "pitch back" for 5 minutes and see how many successful attempts you make. Drink two beers and then do another 5 minutes of pitch back. Repeat the process until you have polished off a 12-pack and then report back with your results.

Possible clues of impairment for the "pitch back" FST: (1) ball strikes subject in face, (2) subject looks for signs from imaginary catcher, (3) subject complains to officer that the last pitch actually hit the outside corner, (4) subject mentions that imaginary crowd is cheering him on . . .

Here we go again: " Convicted " vs. ' Guilty. "
Even with a positive blood test for alcohol she could still not be convicted.
Right world: positive = guilty, conviction or not.
Real world: doesn't matter

It was oil absorb long before it was kitty litter. Some guy just came up the idea of buying oil absorb in bulk, re-packaging it and selling it to weirdos that keep a cat in their house.

I had a pitch back net in 1967. I anchored the support legs by putting bricks on them, the ones with the holes, feeding the support leg through the holes in the bricks. It worked great. I also laid bricks on top of the front bar on the ground to help stabilize it.

I used to pretend I was Whitey Ford or Bob Gibson pitching to the great hitters of that era.

I totally kicked arse.

Hey Barry, you should know that the Walk and Turn and One Leg Stand are not DPS tests. They are NHTSA tests and used nationwide. Looks like her attorney will need to get the stop thrown out, blood was taken and there won't be an intoxilizer to scrutinize. Also I hear she looked BAD on tape.

You know...you could buy a trampoline and stand it up on it's side against a tree/fence/neighbor boy and have a much larger, more stable target.

You could even use duct tape to create a strike zone.
