Decatur ISD must have the same financial advisor that Bridgeport ISD has. No money when it comes to saving jobs or staff. Plenty of money when it comes to what administration wants.
The Bridgeport hospital is a complete waste of time and money. The ER is a fraud. They put people in a room long enough to process paper work, then send them to another hospital for treatment. So the patient ends up paying for two ER visits.
Couldn't agree more 9:56. Bridgeport keeps cutting certain staff. They aren't going to hire a band director to replace one retiring but any coaches that leave they are quick to replace.

Attend a few board meetings and learn how school budgets work before you spout off some idiotic thing like this. What would you do if you had a set of funds set aside specifically for things like HVAC systems, school begins, then a 40 year old system dies and it takes three weeks for repair??? Dont you think enough tax dollars were saved by not replacing it for 40 years??? What a jerk. Its a friggin' air conditioner and heater. This isn't turf, new stadium, or whatever.
Maybe we should have fixed that 40 year old AC before funneling millions into Athletic field improvements! No need for a tax increase, we can reduce a couple more teachers and be okay.
I don't believe there should be a school tax rate election or increase in Decatur based on the level of spending the last 12 months. There seems to be plenty of money available for everything except teachers.
DISD.....please do not repair your AC...because then, if you do not plan on replacing it, and if it is an emergency say in August....you'll pay the premium. See... Commercial AC units have to be made...you don't go down to your Home Depot or Walmart and get them....and we have to cut new holes in your building....and if you do not plan...it's an emergency...BINGO!!!!! Pay the premium!
.....I'm trying to figure out the mentality of why someone thinks a grocery store would go to Rhome to sell to seventeen people...good grief. I see a regional shopping mall serving northern Tarrant and Wise County before I see a grocery store...be thankful form the new Loves!

It is the I & S dollars that may not fund salaries, The maintance fund is used to build the reserve that is then sometimes used for projects or salaries. It is only the bond or I & S dollars that can not be used to fund salaries. Someone has been bambuziled!

Rhome is the King of liquor stores, open face motels, more liquor stores, and truck stops. Vagrants and vagabonds walk 287 to hitch a ride to Wichita Falls. There is no square, grocery store, or viable family businesses like even smaller cities like Chico. Alvord is also very progressive.
Big school projects are all about timing. Some projects can take place during the school year, some can't. That is why planning, decisions, and board votes on big projects all occur in April/May.
Clean up/renovation on athletic facilities can take place during off season. Work on school buildings usually take place during the summer.
Don't forget about the Dollar General. They have groceries too. Since my home if south of Decatur, when I travel to Fort Worth it is the last place to buy a few things we might need without having to go into Decatur.
During the past year I have been a patient twice in the Bridgeport Hospital. They did a good job and were very professional. Yes, I could have driven elsewhere but, I am thankful I could stay in my own community.

No, maintenance and operations money are not supposed to be spent just on salaries. Supplies, water, electricity, telephones, Internet, gas for lawn mowers, toilet paper, etc. all come from those funds.

I went to the ER in Bridgeport. After waiting a couple of hours and going through several tests, I was then told I should go to a bigger hospital in ft worth. The nurses knew more than the doctor did. I will say, the nursing staff was very good.
My husband and I have used the ER at the Bridgeport Hospital three times with one stay over. The attending doctor and nurses gave us very good care and we did not have to wait unlike our experience at Wise Regional that almost killed my husband!!! If a local hospital can't provide the care, they should send a patient to one that can provide care. We would not live in Wise County if we had to depend on Wise Regional ER!

Rhome has 17 people? The third largest city in Wise? Rhome does not want or need a grocery store because all the people shop at Loves.
