Woman Went To Bridgeport To Have Third Baby . . .

And she left her other two kids with a boyfriend who would eventually be sentenced to life in prison for killing one of them. Today she pled guilty in Denton on her first day of trial in exchange for a 10 year sentence for neglect.

The prosecutor said she will have to serve "at least two years" but I don't think that's right. I think it's probable that she'll serve more than two years, but I don't know of a two year minimum.

(In a completely unrelated story, two Denton prosecutors were banned from a courtroom earlier this month after the judge told them they did not have “the innate intellect of a fifth-grader.” Ouch.)

5th grade intellect new standard.
Look for the legal system to grind
to a halt as both sides find it
difficult to field a team.

She should never be allowed to be part of the two children's life again! CPS, do your job!

I would think CPS is getting mighty tired of idiots who make bad choices in their lives that involves having kids when they shouldn't.

"the innate intellect of a fifth-grader.” ? I'm not sure that put-down makes any sense.
It would have to be quantified with a word such as average.
Innate connotes 'born with' so a fifth grader could have been born anecephalic (without a brain) or smarter than Einstein.
The judge is an idiot- no ouch there to worry about.

First off, "at least two years" is easy to figure out. A prisoner normally only has to do 1/4 of the sentence before they eligible for parole. In a 10 year sentence, that's two years and some change. Subtract the "time served" when she was sitting in the county jail awaiting trial and you get into the ballpark of two years.

Secondly, those prosecutors are ass-clowns. Doesn't mean all of them are, but these two allowed this to happened because "the powers that be" intrusted them in a large case and they weren't qualified to do so.

Doesn't surprise me that the judge banned them from the court room, because there is an on-going tiff between the judge and the DA's Office.

The DA's Office has FOUR appeals pending on this judge's rulings. FOUR. That may not seem like a lot, but our Classy Counselor can explain that its very difficult for the State to make an appeal. Judge getting some get-back? Maybe so.

Stay Classy
