I listened to the DISD vision the other night and came away wondering if we have the people it takes to get it done!

Alvord? Why isn't Rhome Fire on the cover?

Looks like a political ad. They're figgna beg for more money!

Maybe they need another ladder truck this year, tou know, for all those high rises we have around Wise Co.

8:44 - who are the people you are talking about (Admin, Board or students?) and what is it that needs to get done?

DISD. Is developing into a haven of great athletic facilities.
Nice vision!

Hard to complain about any of the Volunteer Departments asking for more funding.

You don't need them until you really need them.

You all are a bunch of Liberal Socialists. I am sure that privately ran and privately funded fire departments are the way to go! I'm sure for a small fee they would put the fire(s) out.

where can I get one of the ladies signs that are running for school board at DISD. I whis I had both to put in my yard to help them get more votes.

I will be at the benefit on Saturday, and will be glad to write a check.

I bet that is NOT the guy who was arrested some time ago from rhome for possessing stolen fire department property in aurora.

6:29 - You didn't mention teachers. You don't think they might have something to do with completing the vision? Hmm; interesting omission. I wonder...

It's not even the fire departments asking for money. It's local leaders and businesses that appreciate them and know how bad they need it. The firemen in this county have been doing more with less for years. But with a year like last year, "less" just doesn't go as far. If everyone that reads this blog would go out there Saturday evening and spend twenty bucks it would make a huge difference.

1:48 Thank you. Good comment!

To 6:01 AM

Ladder trucks are not used on high rises - anywhere. They are used on any building over 30 feet tall. At that height, they are out of reach of ground ladders. Decatur has a lot of buildings that meet that criteria.

Gee....I wonder what the word "volunteer" means. To me it means local citizens who give their "free" time to be at your disposal, 24/7/365 just in case you may need someone in the middle of the night to come and save your home or property. Or, if you were dumb enough to cause a fire by negligent burning.
Rarely do they get thanked..
The gentleman in the photo is a fireman in the Hurst area, who gives his time to help here in the county when needed. He is an awesome individual.

To 9:57... You asked why Rhome wasn't on the cover. If they'd put Rhome on the cover, there would have been another Dufus ask..."Rhome? Why didn't they put Cottondale on the cover...or Boyd...or Slidell...or Greenwood..."

I have no problem at all with contributing money to our fire departments, especially the volunteer depts. If the city put the depts on payroll, then taxes would certainly take a spike (which actually might be the better way to fund them). So, if you don't want to see a tax spike, then contribute during this fundraiser that is not asking for a monthly payment, like taxes.

I'm so confused by this blog....are we asking for money for the fire department...the DISD?....

I think "someone" will be hijacking every Above The Fold Barry's going to post until May. I can't wait to see the "commenter" "campaign" when the Messenger's front page is a horrible wreck or something.

I challenge everyone to post anything other than something about Decatur ISD as many times as possible before the "campaigner" comments.

8:08, I would but then they guy I give to on the department always ends up in the Fort Worth paper for theft!

I for one am in favor of improving everything about Decatur athletics. I love the games and find them more entertaining when we win. If we build quality facilities then good athletics will follow. Keep it up! We will re-elect you!

I guess I don't understand why these "Mommies" are choosing to run negative campaigns (even if they hide behind "Anonymous" on the blog - many have heard them in public.) Why bash the district AND the board members in order to win.

Shouldn't they run on your strengths instead of their weaknesses? Wouldn't that make them better and more desirable candidate?

They got my vote. I am even thinking about stealing a sign and putting it in my yard. I have also thought about renting a plane and flying a banner around the courthouse so everyone can see or maybe even a a bill board along 287. Perhaps I will paint their names on all the water towers or even shoe polish their names on all the cars at wal-mart. I have also thought about having a parade and naming them both homecoming queen or possibly purchasing this blog and approving post only about how great they are. If they lose, perhaps I will spend my entire fortune and build a private school and name them both rulers of the universe and have them build the most awesome football team in wise county and all the players will be honor students. Am I driving you crazy yet.
