. . . once the locals find out that this sign on the courthouse door proves that we don't honor a "If you come to America, learn how to speak English" policy. There will be rioting in the streets!! Rioting, I tell ya!!!

Sounds like YOU have the issue. It seems like you are just inciting people to racism...
the problem isn't that it's in Spanish - it's that the translation doesn't match the English. The Spanish words say "Fresh paint", not wet paint. But then, what would you expect from some bolillo named Sherman?
If county officials were smart, they would post the sign in English only. Then, they could lift the fingerprints after the paint dries, and know that they all came from illegal aliens (and native-born folks too stupid to read signs)
Gracias tanto a nuestros buenos amigos en condado Wise. Lo odiamos cuando la pintura consigue en nuestras manos--a menos que cuando usted nos está pagando para pintar.
How come my great grandparents had to learn English and abandon their German language? Because they wanted to be Americans and English was the language.
What makes you think recent immigrants from Latin America don't want to learn English? Most do in order to get ahead here. BTW - have any of you Wise County people ever been to another country? Most signs are in multiple languages (English included).

Because they got tired of getting paint on their hands?
