Merle Wang, Bridgeport high graduate who played tackle at TCU, was drafted by the Browns in 1975, seventh round, 5th pick. Merle graduated in 1970 or there abouts from BHS.
A Decatur player was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in the late 70's. He was the son of Don and Jackie Jones. His parents were killed in a car accident on the Hwy 380 Sandy bridge close to the same time he was drafted.
Bobby Holloway, Decatur 1991 grad, son of the late Judge Bob Holloway, played at the Air Force Academy and Ohio U. was undrafted, but signed by the Chicago Bears, don't think he ever made it further than the practice squad though.
It does not matter if he is from Decatur,Bridgeport, Chico or any other town in Wise County, He is living his Dream, Congrats Colin, Former Safety Bport
kyle clifton play for 15yrs and started for 14 of those yrs... that makes up for all the j.a.g."just a guy" from decatur that never made it past the practice squad.....if thats case jessie deluna qb from bridgeport in the early 90"s was on the cowboys practice squad.. if your looking at that score board bridgeport...
The only players listed in Cowboy draft history in the 70's named Jones are Ed "too tall" Jones in the 1974 draft, out of TSU, a different Ed Jones in 1975, a DB out of Rutgers that played in a few games for Buffalo that season and if you include 1980, James Jones, a RB out of Miss. St. U.
No other players named Jones were draft by the Cowboys in the 70's.
J.Deluna the qb from bridgeport in the early 90's was a good high school qb and ok in college, but was never on cowboys practice squad..9:37am need to get his facts right...
Why quibble over which school has more pro players? Is it really important in this time of uncertainty? We are proud of them and congratulate them. The rest of the kids need to realize the importance of an education and the chances of them becoming a pro player is very slim. I am also just as proud of our many soldiers who help protect us and our freedom.
I've never quite understood the hate mongers in Wise County when it comes to football and other sports...why not be happy for ALL WC athletes that have success after high school... Colin is a great young man from a terrific family....and I formally lived in Decatur for many years...BTW, lightning didnt strike me when I said it.....;-)

Congrats to the entire Jones family, they are wonderful people.
Colin Jones is not the only graduate from WC that has found a job.
I thought KEvin Haney from Decatur who played for TCU in the 80s was drafted by the Cowboys?

Kevin Haney is not included in the historic list of Dallas Cowboys draft picks.
Jeff Garner is not included in the historic list of New Orleans Saints draft picks.

Checked Boyd on Wilkipedid and it listed Billy Joe but it also listed their literacy rate 2.3% lower than Mozambique Africa. What a deal.
