Heard on the scanner a Plane did crash and the pilot is out and ok
Somewhere near Chico off of 101... Only 1 person, the pilot, and he was sitting on the side of the road after he crashed...but he did seem to cause a small grassfire. FIREMARSHALL, write that man a ticket!
Just heard the same from a fb commenter. No other info.
Were drugs or alcohol involved?
I heard it was a news crew coming to get the story on the cheer parents going before the school board on Tuesday night!

How many demerits for a crash landing?
Well now that is a good question:
1. If the crash makes you more than 10 minutes late you get 2 demerits.
2. If you are out of uniform before, during or after the crash you get 5 demerits.
3. If you were chewing gum during the crash landing 2 demerits.
4.If you were wearing jewelry during the crash landing 2 demerits.
5.If you had alcohol in the plane 15 demerits, unless a parent, guardian or other responsible adult was in the plane and was aware of the alcohol then it's "Party On!"
6.If you were using your cell phone on the plane 2 demerits.
7. If at any point during the crash landing you used profanity,lewd or vulgar language or obscene gestures 5 demerits.
8.If you forgot you bloomers, shoes, tights, socks or correct ribbon for your ponytail on the trip 2 demerits.
9. YOU GET THE IDEA!

Wise County Deputy Sheriff Roscoe Pecoltrain said it was a horindus crash. Said it looked like a 747 coming out of the sky while doing security checks and nothing else.
The messenger hasn't been on it since it was sold to the new owners. They aren't on anything except the next day. Even the update is getting later and later. They suck.

Not the Index,nor the messenger picks up this story? Oh the Index wrote soemthing but it wasnt remotely correct or even close to the real story. I dont have a cheerleader but I do have kids and friends with kids in BISD. What does this truly say for our school board and their faith in our administration. It will be interesting to see how they respond now on Tuesday.. I mean can they do any worst? We are already a big joke to the other schools now. We are the only 3A school in the state with one cheer squad of 26 kids.
We wonder why we have families and students leaving our city everyday. We have School board thats incompetent and a mayor who would rather talk big and blame people then show up and work to fix things. Elections next year can't get here soon enough.
The story I heard is tryouts were a disaster, so the school board put everyone on varsity. That decision of course made everybody already on varsity mad. So now those parents are going to the school board Tuesday to try to fix it all. Thats all I know, but it's been a mess from the start!
The index story sounds like it was all about money. I dont know why, the girls paid for everything when my daughter was a cheerleader.

Maybe if some parents did not have a direct line to the administration tryouts would have been valid. They were not. The school board should have never even had to deal with this issue. The board abolished the new cheer guidelines as they should have. Now if they can divide the squads per the rules 16-10 it will be just fine with most. Before you think your daughter is a super cheerleader ask yourself....did mom get her any special treatment?

6:36 you are an idiot. The tryouts were completely valid. The rules were set, the parents and girls signed off on them and tryouts were held. Everyone was judged with the same criteria. The top 10 girls were put on varsity. End of story. Your daughter needs to be mature enough to move on and find something else to be involved in. I can here it now. "Mommy, my boss didn't pay me. I didn't want to do what my job description said, but I want to get paid anyway. Fix it Mommy. Go make him change the rules so I can get paid!" And how would you have knowledge of any child's grades but your own??
The only "mess" was the realization from upper class mom's that there were very talented cheerleaders coming up in the freshmen class. They have been in panic mode from day 1 trying to figure out how to change the rules so that their daughter didn't get "beat" by a freshman. One of them even allowed their daughter to try to get a petition signed by her upper class cronies that freshmen shouldn't be allowed on the Varsity Squad. This is not new. Freshmen have been on the squad for the last 2 years.
The parents that filed the first grievance to get the rules changed after tryouts were finalized are the ones still living their lives through their kids. They and their daughters have the mistaken idea that if they were on the squad last year, they automatically have a spot on the squad this year and these freshmen girls are "taking their spots". HAHAHAHA The parents going before the board Tuesday are the ones setting the example for their kids of when and how to stand up for what is right.

4:20 - I don't really think we have an incompetent school board, but I do question either them or administration for allowing BHS seniors to "vote" whether they wanted a baccalaureate service. They voted no. The school should have said there WOULD be such a service. So the kids who don't want it - just don't go. I don't think it is mandatory. And I know personally of one senior who was disappointed it wasn't going to occur.
These kids are leaving school and embarking into their adult lives. Having a bit of spiritual guidance before they leave is healthy. It is the one occasion where seniors and members of their families can gather and pray corporately for God's guidance as these kids leave home.
No wonder so much respect is being lost in public education. We have allowed it to be chipped away by our indifference.

8:38 - I agree that sports is over the top in most schools - yeah, I know all the great reasons behind having it, but local school boards have allowed it way too much importance. There would be an absolute revolt from parents if schools cut back on sports, but if educational pursuits were cut back, few would even notice. Even our great state of Texas in their efforts to cut back have put such strain on the schools that good educators in important subjects are being scaled back. Just how much sense does it make to keep spending more and more money on sports activities, football stadiums, etc.? How is all of that going to help our kids out in the real world of work?
And we have allowed this as voters. We really don't necessarily want folks on our local school boards who stand up for education or at least promote more balance.
Sports ARE priorities in our schools. Sports ARE priorities in our country.
And it won't ever change.
