From The Update

Considering they only have control over Class C offenses prosecuted in the municipal court (punishable by fine only), that's not much of a threat.

And did they also adopt a "We've Have Some Tolerance" policy for violations of other city ordinances?

I fell I've laughing when I read this one this morning. It scares me that this is the council that is in charge of this city. Apparently there surely was a minimum tolerance ordnance before an they enjoyed having drugs in the city. But this council, no sir they are not going to tolerate such things like that. I'm sure they are going to force the DA to prosecute to the max or else. This is what you get when a bunch of inbred, hillbilly idiot set at a round table with no sheep or goats to take advantage of. They just sit there and think crazy crap up. I'm surethey are proud of themselves.

11:04 Did you go to school in Rhome or maybe you're Mexican?

You misspell and demonstrate poor sentence structure along with poor grammar.

"Zero tolerance" neans one or two things: we are retarded and/or we are money grubbing succubus's that don't have any idea how to legitimately gain revenue by promoting business in our retarded town.

Evidently they didn't get the memo that this war on drug thing is not working. The rest of the free world is moving towards decriminalizing drug possession, this hellhole must be set on moving backwards.

Newark will be next. Two of a kind or birds of a feather..... you get the point !

11:04... You might consider proofreading your statements regarding the stupidity of others. Based on your spelling and grammar, I’m inclined to wonder how your parents are related to each other and where you keep your favorite sheep.

While your world is moving towards
decriminalizing drug possession, stay the hell away from my children.

Is the plural of "succubs" "succubi?"

I'm sure you still believe the world is flat and that evolution never occurs. Decriminalizing drugs works. The government spends less money battling a losing battle, prisons are less crowded, courts are less backed up, and because decriminalization promotes therapy to aid addiction...there are less drug abusers. Go ahead and keep telling your kids that marijuana is addictive and can kill them. They'll soon find out you are misinformed and won't believe anything else you say...just like the idea that preaching abstinence lowers teen pregnancy. Get out of your box and see what reality looks like.

This is almost as stupid as the Bowie Memorial Hospital attempting to create a Hospital District Tax to keep their crappy, nepotism-filled hospital funded. Rhome and Newark may be populated with doofusses, but Gawd's Country folks will vote BMH's silly little proposal DOWN.

Rhome municipal can't prosecuted drug possession cases unless they are decriminalizing the drugs to a class c misdeameanor, (a lesser charge of paraphanelia or possession by minor of alcohol, public intoxication...). To the Rhome Gateway Council can yal say the word paraphanelia? Do stores in your area sale rolling papers, alcohol, or yal the minority.
First nascar race they arrested hundred and took them to the school gym for booking. They had a road block set up. Their Judge only comes once a month. Hope their writing tickets instead of booking people this time.
Note to Rhome P. D. you cannot take someone to jail just for open container if there not intoxicated, just write a ticket, then you can stay in your town and keep the peace instead of waisting your gas and rubber transporting to Decatur.
You should put up signs that say no illegal immigrants shall be tolerated.

Now that you explained it, I have seen the light. Maybe you should explain it to all the sore covered,
toothless meth heads roaming the
county. Unless you sober up.

Stay away from my kids unless you want to find out what really lowers teen pregnancy. Castration

Can you SPELL the word paraphernalia? But, you did get "decriminalizing" correct, but it's made up mostly by criminal, so...

I take it you are in favor of using the products you are ranting about. (Insert punchline...here)

I think what they mean by "zero tolerance" is that the Rhome police force is just going to bludgeon you if caught with drugs or alcohol! They just want it to be known if you are doper or drinker and come into their town you are about to get f'd up! I really do not think these folks are thinking ahead to any legal ramifications becuase you will still be in ICU when your court date is set.

I am amazed. People act like drugs are the scourge of society yet legal alcohol has cost more lives and ruined more lives than drugs ever have.
People also fail to see the effects of prohibition. Prohibition caused the creation, or at least the huge growth of organized crime. Now prohibition of marijuana has caused a growth of drug related organized crime. If the people want the product the people are going to get the product.
Marijuana is listed as a schedule 1 narcotic while cocaine is schedule 2. No one has been able to explain that to me as yet (the whole gateway drug thing does not pass the smell test).
Plus we're sending people to prison for small amounts of marijuana and getting hardened criminals in return.
I say legalize marijuana, tax it and at least give it the same status as alcohol.
If you don't think this defunds drug dealers then you think prohibition worked.

STUPID!!!!!!!! Another reason to boycott Rhome! Putting signs up only tells the whole world your town has a drug problem, and everyone knows Rhome is number 2 in dope towns in Wise County!

Even the Rhome PD thinks the council is bonkers, just ask them. The courthouse employees that have ever had to talk to any of them will tell you the same.

The ignorance and willful stupidity of many on this blog is astounding. They decry the government attempts to punish those who break the law while simultaneously giving more control of their lives to the same government saying, "They are idiots trying to stop criminals and are inept, but surely they will run healthcare with the utmost care and consideration." Are you really that stuid? The government should control more of the economy but should allow criminals to go free? These people on here seem to promote both a socialist economy and paradoxically anarchy. Grow up, learn some morals, observe the law, become a productive citizen, and stop living with an attitude of entitlement. I owe you nothing and your neighbor owes you nothing. If you want to live a life where you take from others, use drugs regularly, and are useless to society then go to Europe. Opportunities abound for you and your ilk there. And no I am not from Rhome, I am not on the city council, I have no vested interest in the local governments, I don't work for big business/oil, and I am not an old timer with outdated ideas. I use common sense to see the truth and act upon it based on intelligence, morals, and ethics. I am a conservative, Christian, white, middle age male who is tired of the minorities trying to impose their will on the country.

The goofballs behind this fail to realize they sell drug paraphernalia at the stores in town already, it's just labeled differently. Rolling papers, the rose in the glass tube aka "Rhome crack kit", and ice cold 40's for all our bruthas passin' thru!

Anonymous said...

PLEASE BARRY! BECOME RHOME'S CITY MANAGER AND END THIS MADNESS!!!!!

Anonymous said...

They are capitalizing on the soon to be rise in truck stop meth in town.

@5:43 - Lemme break it down for you. The ridicule isn't because of the Rhome City Council's desire to punish offenders. The ridicule is because of the futility and ignorance of the ordinance itself. City's don't prosecute drug offenders (except for Class C misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia - the same as a traffic ticket) they only arrest drug offenders. Likewise, they can only prosecute Class C misdemeanor alcohol cases. Public Intoxication, minor in possession of alcohol, and the like. Class C misdemeanors are the lowest class offense in the state. So, as you should be able to see, the choice here is either don't prosecute, or prosecute. The whole "fullest extent of the law" thing is superfluous. Wasting time on this ordinance was simply that: wasting time.

Lots of us are all for prosecuting drug offenders. Let's have a plan, though, that has a chance of actually addressing the problem!

For a guy who obviously has a pretty good command of English vocabulary, you just as obviously don't seem to understand too well.

Then again, maybe I'm just "really stuid." LOL!

12:59 Amen, bro. I agree totally!

2:13 Is it got or get a diploma, because I already got one.
12:59 Don't drink alcohol or do meth. Don't want to be around yo kids either.
Okay I spelled paraphernalia wrong, but good brains can read it anyways. I use rolling papers to smudge my eye shadow, but as long as I buy the drug- tobacco also it's okay to carry the papers, more darn paraphernalia (tobacco) that gets feed to the bugs in the garden. Look how Rhome is spelled, There's your sign! Change it to the Rhome Gateway to Nascar.

What ever happen to the word have, not got?
May not be the greatest speller, but have plenty of common sense.
What do you have nit pickers?
Where did the H in RHOME come from anyway? Is it really R-HOME-BOY?
RHOME-BOY thinks he can prosecute drugs to the maximum when it is really between defendants lawyer and dah Judge in Decatur.
Thank you Word Up, you rock also.

At least Rhome got to burn their grass...

641: I understand the arguments that it is a pointless ordinance and I agree. My point was that those who seem to decry it the loudest comment regularly on this blog with similar points. My comments were aimed more at those extolling the virtues of decriminalization of illegal drugs. While that argument seems as though it would work it doesn't pass muster when viewed more intently. Should someone wish I would gladly explain why but most here would simply maintain their views and start name calling. It is the bastion of the left. Thank you for the response though 641. I appreciate your comment and cede your point. Perhaps with my second comment we will find we are on the same side and it was a misunderstanding.
