Random Thursday Morning Thoughts

  • We've got friends coming over today and nothing - I mean nothing - causes a massive housecleaning more than having people over.
  • So the Family Cat That I Hate has a urinary tract infection which caused her to act extra nutty over the past few days.  And vets don't work for free. Ugh.
  • If you walk outside, you'll detect the faint scent of smoke. I heard on the news that it's due to fires in Oklahoma.
  • Speaking of fires, there were about 10 small fires along 287 between Rhome and Decatur yesterday. But none of them were more than 30 yards long. Weird.
  • Crazy Dallas Mayor Dwaine Caraway fought like crazy to prevent the release of the police tape of his conversation with an officer that responded to his home back in January. We finally heard it yesterday. Turns out he was just trying to keep the metroplex from learning that his wife can act a little nutty.
  • Speaking of, it's Mrs. LL's birthday.
  • One thing I didn't expect to hear from her last Friday: "Would you cut up my chicken fried steak for me?"
  • The Wise County Grand Jury met yesterday and there sure looked like an unusual number of civilian witnesses going in and out of the room. I bet something high profile is going on.
  • That silly Rebecca Black's "Friday, Friday" song now has 42 million hits.
  • I loved the "Opulence, I Has It" commercial and didn't realize there was a new one. (Which isn't nearly as funny with the exception of a tiny giraffe on a golden treadmill in the corner of the screen. Screenshot.)
  • I'm pretty sure the Cowboys are on "Idiot Alert" when it comes to Dez Bryant.
  • Fox 4 blew it this morning. In the 5:00 hour, there was crazy footage of the cab of an 18 wheeler dangling over I-35 on the I-20 overpass in south Fort Worth. (Photo). Fox 4 reported from the scene that the driver and two other occupants had been rescued earlier When I flipped over to Channel 5 at 5:28 a.m when Fox went to a commercial., they had a live shot of the driver dramatically being pulled out of the cab.
  • When I flipped back to Fox 4, they were doing a live shot and still reporting that the occupants had been saved much earlier.
  • All the Liz Taylor talk yesterday made me want to see the movie Giant.
  • The bombing of Libya makes no more sense today than it did on Saturday.
  • Somebody at the Dallas Morning News really liked Elizabeth Taylor:

Elizabeth Taylor was a beutiful woman. She was the epitome of the old Hollywood. Giant is a must see. James Dean is terrific in it.

A comment on the voter ID legislation: About time.

does anybody have a clue what were doing in libya? now we find out the rebels have links to al queda?

i miss w, who is this guy in the white house? is he really on our side?

Don't think that anyone can actually agree on anything. Not only are each country saying something different, we have Hillary and Obummer that can't even agree on what to do.

I too miss W. At least he would have handled this correctly, and not like a bumbling idiot.

8:47, this is where it is going. Al-Qaeda is embedded with the rebels in Libya. The western world is being fooled and minupilited by masters of deceit.

The TV show "The Middle" had a hilarious episode last night about spring cleaning.

I hope Mrs. LL's grip strength improves after all that surgery she had.

Remember, catapult is both a noun and a verb.

Miss W? Really? He was and still is, an idiot who's only saving grace is that he was smart enough to listen to his daddy tell him to surround himself with people who were way smarter than he was. The reason Chaney is always in "a discrete location is because he smells so much like crap from spending 8 years with his hand up W's butt making his lips move that nobody can stand to be within twenty feet of him. The big O, Comrade Yes We Can, is no better, but let's not characterize W as a master politician when he clearly was nothing of the kind.

Happy Birthday to Mrs.LL !!

That smoke cant be from Okie land...them boys roll there Joints all wrong

9:32--at least W was smart enough to surround himself with people who knew what to do and how to handle things. I've always said that the Big Man (President) doesn't really make any decisions himself. He relies on all the people around him for that. Until now......I think Obama IS making decisions on his own. Proves my point, I think! He's too stupid to listen to those around him! And is doing one crappy job. I hope we still have a country to pull out of the crapper when he's voted out. Can we have Bekins Van Lines go ahead and back up to the White House NOW? Hope Michelle is limited on her redecorating as she won't be living there much longer.

Pretty much everyone over 40 loved Liz Taylor. How could you not? She was a gorgeous woman who was inherently sexy without being a trashy ho like the young starlets now. Liz was everything Hollywood should be. I really really hate that these wonderful true stars are now dying...makes me very sad because there is certainly no one coming along to take their places.

Last week y'all wer like: "OMG, where is Obama? Bush would help the rebels in Libya!"

And now you're like: "OMG, we shouldn't be doing this!"

Make up your retarded minds.

As far as Bush not bumbling it? Al Quaeda and the Taliban were solidly in control of large portions of Afghanistan when Bush left office, and Iraq had devolved into a civil war along religious sectarian lines.

Everything he touched turned to shit. Especially our economy.

Liz Taylor was a great actress who will be sorely missed. I enjoyed her movies very much. Barry, pls watch one of her movies and let us know what you think.

The further along in Obama's presidency we go, the better W looks. As I've said before, historians in the future, with the benefit of hindsight, will regard George W. Bush's presidency as much more successful than we've all been led to believe by the media.

Anonymous said...

How about a hey now of Liz in a swim suit.

Anonymous said...

wordkyle, even you Republicans can't make up your minds on Libya. Like the guy above said, y'all either need to support him or oppose him. With half the Republicans wanting to bomb Libya, and the other half saying it's too expensive (or really just opposing him because you oppose everything he does), y'all are starting to look as divided as the Democrats.

I guess all the "[fill in the blank] have taken over the Republican party" arguments can be laid to rest now. Complex problems can cause thoughtful people to disagree on possible solutions. Disregarding whether militarily opposing Gaddafi is the right thing to do or not, it can be reasonably argued that Obama took a long time to come to that decision -- well after the rebels had already gotten the crap beat out of them. Sarah Palin advised precisely the same action a month ago, when military assistance would have done the rebel side a lot more good. Obama could learn a few things from her.

Wordie... you really don't make sense (most times)... Bush Jr. never looked good to anyone outside the 20% party loyalist (extremist) who would have voted for him anyway... and when McCain was sabotaged (see South Carolina Primaries in 2000), the remaining party voters were left with no choice but to remain loyal.

Now, please start off with your usual opening salvo of "your argument makes no sense"...

For those Decaturites who don't know this bit of trivia, the house in the movie GIANT was patterned after Decatur's own Waggoner Mansion. Studios actually wanted to film at the Waggoner Mansion, but the owner turned down that offer when they were told all the trees around the house would have to be cut down. So the decision was made to make a prop that matched the external features of the mansion.

wordkyle said...

"Bush Jr"? Is that your opening salvo in trying to make a valid point? Not a good start. I won't say your comments make no sense -- people can decide that for themselves -- but you'll need to further explain what you're getting at. You apparently have some burr under your saddle about SC 2000 (still.) Not sure of the relevance. Maybe start by defining "party loyalist (extremist)" to help clarify things.

Anonymous said...

SHHHHHH 1:14 - you will disturb Wordie. He's looking up research to prove you wrong.

Anonymous said...

Sarah Palin advised precisely the same action a month ago, when military assistance would have done the rebel side a lot more good.

Why would we want to help the rebels? I can promise you they're more Islamofascist than the current government.

Happy Birthdday to Mrs. L.L.

I think April 10th Turner Classic movies will be all Elizabeth Taylor movies so maybe you can watch or tape some of them.

Young Mr. Bryant must have been a real pain for the good folks at North Park to place a criminal trespass on him. Lots & lots of NFL money to spend and they tell him don't come back for a couple of months? Just proves that a big wad of folding cash does not necessarily indicate maturity or intelligence.

I left the blog up and my wife saw the picture of the crocheted beer can holder with the big tits and pink nipples. She was very offended and thinks I'm a pervert for looking at it.

She wants to know if you allow you 8-yr. old daughter and your mother, sisters, et al look at it.

She says there's no place for this in a column that supposedly is for serious discussion and it needs to be on a porn site.

Credibility gone.

Ricardo Perry said...

Well You stated that B-JR. was starting to look good... McCain was the better option back then... Then you write about a burr in the saddle from 2000... seems like there has been a burr in the saddle of the far-right for a long while...

wordkyle said...

220 - You may be right. If so, then Obama took a month to make the wrong decision. If you're wrong, then Obama made the right decision too late to do much good.

Can anyone explain Obama's foreign policy objectives on occasions when he actually had to do something? Early on in his administration, he conducted a world tour to make speeches, impressing many people. So far that's the highlight of his presidency. Now the rest of the world still hates the United States, and we are ineffective in persuading other nations to do what we ask.

RP - In order: 1) Misstatement (I said looking "better") and wrong name (again); 2) Opinion (wrong, in my opinion, for reasons stated previously); 3) Non sequitir. Are you giving others the impression of yourself that you intended?

Do you have to hide what you're viewing on your computer from your wife?

There are no photos of real people on here that you can't see at any public beach. Does your wife let you go to the beach?

Your wife thinks this is a site for serious discussion?? She thinks a site with "Land of Dairy Queen" in the title is a magnet for serious discussion? Has she ever had a serious discussion? This is a site for Barry to have fun.

Porn site? Has your wife ever seen a real porn site? Probably not because you have to hide what you're viewing on your computer.

My advice to you. Turn your desk around so that you have time to exit this site when your wife checks up on you. My wife likes this site because she doesn't have to talk to me when I'm on here.

I am a middle-aged female, and tho I find the pics of boobie coozies and half-naked women irritating, I am more irritated that a woman alive in the world today would be such a prude! Also, what's with the question "would you LET your ....look at this"? If any man even came close to trying to determine what I do or do not look at he would have his man parts significantly reduced in a heartbeat! Tell your wife to lighten up and pull the ____out of her tight a**.

Anonymous said...

7:36 - PLEASE NO!......he would research us to death.

Glen: Rebels are taking new cities in eastern Libya, headed for the capitol. So much for wordkyle's "we acted too late" research.

If your nose wasn't surrounded by his sphincter, maybe you could see his Rush Limbaugh research is superficial, and fails to account for history, or consider the future impact of the actions we're taking.

We don't belong in Libya.
