Answer.

I thought Tort Reform killed all this excess.

When it comes to their own money, Liberals like Sheryl Crow and Sting are businesspeople first and Liberals second. Between them and the trial lawyers, that'll be one soulless party.

A great place for judges and lawyers to mingle. Is that not a conflict in the making. Judges associating with lawyers. As a non-legal person (no relation to legal industry at all) except I have to live under the laws made (by Congress or courts)by you guys. And now we here that you all hang out together. How is this ethical?

I work for a small law firm and was responsible for planning the Christmas party. I have already informed everyone not to expect any entertainment like this at our party!

Who is Smith & Green having? Elton John maybe?

I do really like Sting, however I must say these things: I don't think our dear John Lanier, a native of Gawd's Country, could be involved in this in any way, shape, form or fashion. All I know is John Lanier is a fireman/real estate agent/all around good guy. I used to call him Johnny Lanier even back in grade school. Is there a lawyer in our Lanier wood pile somewhere? Surely not. There is a banker Lanier, but I know of no lawyers. Must be some other Lanier. John Lanier, John Lanier, John Lanier! Go Rangers!

P.S. John Lanier's wife is a darned good artist.

I've been to his parties and he raises a lot of $$ for charity. He's a really nice, generous guy.

This story is what is called "target rich". Why is it no one questions a judges attendance at parties such as this? Personal injury attorneys whine about their reputations and then do things like this. If they were true liberals, wouldn't they donate that money to charity?

WK - If Sheryl Crow &/or Sting sing, it will not be a "soulless party."

Have you ever even listened to their music?

I'm sure any party where you are the entertainment is just full of soul. Ha!

Wordkyle - there are many wealthy people who consider themselves to be liberals. Those 2 aren't mutually exclusive.

It is true that Sheryl Crow and Sting are financially successful and also have a liberal attitude toward government.

A liberal mindset is different than a conservative one regarding government. But that doesn't mean that liberals are against anyone, including themselves, being financially successful in their careers.

It probably does mean that they have different opinions in regard to inheritance taxes, taxes in general, etc.

754 - Of course I've listened to Sheryl Crow and Sting. I especially enjoyed their song "Love Will Keep Us Together."

804 - While my initial remark was made slightly tongue in cheek, the sentiment was genuine. Your remarks regarding the Liberal mindset toward other people earning large sums of money was absolutely hilarious. Google "the Rich," "the top one (or two) percent," and similar terms to see who Democrats have demonized for the last two decades or so. (And why do Liberals take any tax deductions at all?)
