Texas Monthly 2009 Bum Steer Award

This was mentioned in the Update today. (Which is a little ironic since the news story originally appeared in the Update.) I tried to find it in the archives, but couldn't. Edit: Found it. Sixth entry down. Edit: Faithful reader Allen W. points out that Wise County had two entries this year: Edit: Joe Duty remembers the guy

Ha! I'd bet even Tom DeLay didn't get two Bum Steer awards in one year. Way to go, you WiseGuys!

Let's keep up the good work Bubbas. We don't want none of them foreigners from north of the Red River or any of those stoners from the hill country movin' in here to our little heaven-on-earth county. Stories like these should kepp 'em away for another year. Let's start figuring on what to do for an oncor (no advertisement intended) next year!

Yea, but Tom Delay was THE Bum Steer of the Year.

His dancing and butt-swaying and ridiculous costumes on Dances With the Stars made him a very deserving Bum Steer.

It was like watching a train wreck, but you could go ahead and watch because no one was going to get harmed, just humiliated.

Funny stuff.

If you don't want to do any advertising for Oncor, why not just use the correct word?
en·core
Pronunciation: \ˈän-ˌkȯr\
Function: noun
Etymology: French, still, again
Date: 1712
1 : a demand for repetition or reappearance made by an audience
2 a : a reappearance or additional performance demanded by an audience b : a second achievement especially that surpasses the first
Merriam-Webster online
This blog should get Bum Steer Awards for spelling and grammar usage

Not surprised the swine flu thing made some state-wide idiocy contest. I'm just surprised Leno never used it nationally in his most stupid headlines section. The cancelling of the swine flu meeting because of swine flu was one of the times I was ashamed to admit I live in Wise County.

I believe we all commented about this when it first appeared in the update. Yep, was stupid!

9:05 dues math like you Barry.

I think the answer is 1095 days or so, not that it matters.

Look! It's Cindy Lou Who in the background!

This is weird...it's 1234 days until 12-21-2012...freaky man.

BTW-will my computer stop working on this date?
