Random Thursday Morning Thoughts

  • I showed up for County Court in Jack County yesterday, found the sign in sheet, and noticed my court appointed client had arrived before me. I then looked around and didn't see him -- an oddity that was explained when his exasperated girlfriend came in later to tell me "they arrested him when he came in." Sheesh.
  • His bondsman had turned on him, by the way.
  • My health insurance company wrote me to tell me my monthly premium is going up $50 a month. That's with not filing a claim in 5 years and having a deductible that would buy a nice vacation.
  • My house plants never die. And I really don't do anything other than water them when I see the leaves going limp.
  • Hey, Right Wingers, don't worry about the Obama speech to your children. They are kids. It's a speech. It's school. They'll be asleep or daydreaming within 2 minutes.
  • I like watching a bird flap it's wings in water.
  • Prediction Fail: I said the Rangers would fade down the stretch. I was wrong. It's September and they are 3 1/2 games behind in the division and 2 1/2 games behind in the Wild Card. My bad.
  • I've said it before, but the "Promiseland" televangelist/religious show is worse than what Robert Tilton ever did. I know you've never seen it, but if I ever run across it I'll watch it until my blood boils.
  • OK, after proclaiming The Dark Knight was awful after seeing it in the theater last year, I've had a chance to reevaluate my position after watching it on cable. Verdict: I was too kind in my review. It's corny and simplistic.
  • Texas A&M just lost a game in 2015 and 2016 because they just agreed to play USC. Why, oh why?
  • My travel companion, who happened to be female, took this photo at the Cowboys game on Saturday night. I hadn't noticed the little Photo Bomber on the right.
  • Funny: Our main governor candidates have created YouTube channels to attack each other. Gov. Perry named his AKayOticCampaign while Kay Bailey Hutchison named her's TrickyRicky2010.
  • Someone keeps telling me that the attendance for the Texas Rangers is "great." No so fast my friend. The average attendance for this year is 27,637. That would rank 10th best over the last 13 years.

Barry, I appreciated you bringing up your elevated premium. Don't know about your carrier, but with mine, the premiums go up at each birthday - done deal - you pay it or cancel it.

Personally, I think at age sixty five the insurance premiums should be "frozen" just as county and school taxes are.

No wonder older citizens cut back on meds and food, just to pay these folks.

It is wrong.

I noticed that one of the guys in the Cowboys photo had painted his nipples blue
Funny...Kinda gay, but funny

Isn't it a little strange that Obama needs help from our grade school children? Wouldn't it be a better idea to write a letter to themselves about how they can help their teacher? Like how they can shut up, sit down and do their homework every day. The lesson plan from the Secretary of Education for teachers to follow is control from the top down. Now we have government take over of our class room.

Guess the next speaker will be the Green Jobs special advisor and known communist and envirnomental activists asking for help.

Barry since you don't have children, the grade school kids will share their letters later. Now I'm six years old and the president needs my help. How can I help him? Not how can I help my teacher. Not how can I help my parents or grandparents. How can I help him?

If I were a parent, I would keep my children home because he is not the Superintendent in Chief.

As to Promiseland--I notice that the catchphrase is "Partnership", which I guess means--"send us your money so you can be 'parnters' with us in the 'Lord's' business". All those scam artists use a catchphrase for "send me money". Mike Murdock at the Fort Worth Wisdom Center called it "seed".

PS went back and watched about 7.5 seconds of the Promiseland video.

That was as far as I got before my foreheadal artery (medical term- sorry to get so technical)ruptured and sprayed blood all over the monitor.

The day Obama speaks to our schools will be a day where the absentee rate will make it look like the flu bug is out of the box. I have spoke with a couple of parents who say that they expect a 24 hour stomach virus to be going around.

I think it's funny how most people on this blog seem to fear The President of the United States of America.

Anonymous said...

Fear is the wrong word. Disrespect might be appropriaate.

Anonymous said...

Not fear. Not disrepect. Stupidity, bigotry, more like it.

9:01, it's not that I fear the President. We fear who is the President. I respect the post and do my job voting. The last three persons to serve in the post have taken a dump in the Oval Office and told the American people to pick it up. The last two Presidents have been cocky in their policies and refuse to use common sense (listen to the people who did and DID NOT vote for them).

Clinton shit in the corner so nobody saw it until later, Bush stepped in Clinton's pile and laid his own massive heap on the desk and Obama is painting the walls with it. NO POLITICIAN will ever step up and clean up the previous pile, just distract you from it and blame the one who did it.

If you work on the A&M premise that you supposed...Why does Baylor schedule any games?

What is wrong w/ affording parents an opportunity to watch the video and then decide whether to allow the kids to watch it? What are you afraid of?

Your premium went up because 4 massive, greedy industries, insurance, medical, pharmacutical, and LEGAL, have no self control. Adding the greediest, most inefficient industry, government, to that mix doesn't fix your problem.

I am in the same insurance boat as you, but I have friends in Canada that think their nationalized health care is the greatest. That is until one, an older gentleman needing a hip replacement, found out that he is too old to qualify even though he was healthy and active until the hip problem arose. And his wife was in severe back pain, and had to come to the states for treatment because there was no place in Canada capable of the procedure.

Even though cost is staggering, and my life might be in jeopardy because I choose to pass on treatment because of the cost, at least our current system gives us a choice. We stand to loose that choice.

Barry, I feel your pain on the rise in premiums. We are self-employed and have a high deductile insurance policy. When we signed up 3 1/2 years ago, for a family of 5 we paid $288 per month. We have NEVER had a claim on this policy. We just got a letter last week that our policy is going up again - the 4th increase since the start of our policy (the last increase was just 9 months ago!)Now we are up to a monthly premium of $533!! Ridiculous!

Your premiums went up because more uninsured people went to the ER and didn't pay for the services they received. The hospital needs to charge you, your insurance company, more to make up for the loss.

And the Republicans don't want to fix the system.

The liberals have taken over most of our universities, most definitely the law schools. Now they want to move into our neighborhood schools.

Alfred Lord Tennyson wrote in Ulysses; "I am part of all that I have met". Keep that idiot Obama away from your children.

The photo of the girl looks better when I scroll down so that all I can see are the beer and the boobs.

Anonymous said...

Uh, 8:22 why should they be frozen? You use more of the system, the more you pay. Just like young drivers pay more auto insurance.

And your "companion" has children. You want to become a sugar daddy, Barron?

I bet she has long toes but, I would lick them anyway.

Barry, sorry to hear about your client. Let me guess - Blackjack?

You know that the bondsman is required by law to notify the Defendant's attorney BEFORE he attempts to go off of the bond. CCP Article 17.19(a). You are entitled to have him reinstated, and he has a cause of action against the surety.

But since you are board certified in criminal law, I'm not telling you anything you don't already know.

On A&M scheduling USC -is it So. Cal or South Carolina? I guess it doesn't matter - losses in either case.

One of the TrickyRicky videos bagged on him for campaigning for Giuliani- I thought we were supposed to like him, he was a hero or somethin.

Bubear.....

You need to start a 100+ comments folder/collection on your blog.

You've got some serious gold inside the napalm(Vietnam reference) postings you've selected over the years....

Think about it....but don't pull a muscle...or blow a fuse.

It is fear pure and simple. Right-Wing Nut parents are afraid that Obama might have an impact on their little "right-wing bigot" children. There was a school in Wise County that a teacher had a background picture of Obama on their pc. A little right-wing whiner told their parents "our teacher has Obama on their pc background" or something to that effect. Parents complained. The teacher was ordered to remove the offending background pic. This was after the election. Backwards county? Nawwww.

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who thought The Dark Knight sucked. Sweet baby Jesus, I thought that movie would never end.

RE: the dark knight comment.
The funniest part other than seeing joker dressed up as a nurse was seeing him act like one. Did anyone notice after he left two faces foom he sanatized his his hands from the sanatizer outside the door! I thought that was funny and I think about everytime I see a nurse to it and i'm in the hospital a lot lately and see itquite frequently.. hahahaha
