A Rare Baseball Post

I love stuff like this. On Friday night, the Yankees trailed the Mets by one run in the bottom of the ninth with two outs. Runners at first and second. Alex Rodriquez hits a pop up to the second baseman so game over. Right? Not so fast my friends. (The clip above is of poor video quality but contains the audio mashup of four different broadcast teams covering the game. Wait. Four?) And the winning run coming in from first base was former Ranger Mark Teixeira who makes a krillion dollars at year. But despite the risk of becoming complacent, he remembered one important baseball rule: When there are two out and you're on base, run!! Good thing. They would have crucified him if he had dogged it. ------------- On an unrelated note, I was watching the beginning tease of ESPN Sports Center yesterday morning and I saw a three second clip of a HUGE branch falling within feet of a guy sitting and watching a golf tournament. Did anybody else see that? I can't find anything about it (and I didn't get to watch the Sports Center episode.)

What makes me want to puke is how the Yankees swarm A-Rod like he did something special.

Karma is gonna get its revenge. Mark it down...

If you do not believe normal baseball is interesting, then you do not understand the game.

I suspect that if you searched the history of the Texas Rangers organization, you could compile a "dream team" of players they had and then let go.

Also alarming is the number of players they had and let go to go on to productive careers only to re-acquire them after they were used up.

What was even better is former Ranger Milton Bradely catching a pop fly for the second out, then showboating and thinking it was the third out. He threw the ball up into the stands and the runner scored. That was priceless.

Barry, You must have paid attention during Little League practice! I'm constantly amazed at the bone-headed mistakes these zillionaire major leaguers make that I'd have chewed out little 12 year olds for making. Baseball is a game of nuances and most of these guys couldn’t spell or pronounce that!

The golf thing...

The tournament this past weekend was in Memphis. Last year at the tournament, a tree was hit by a bolt of lighting during one of the rounds. The tree was in an area where the gallery watched the players. One guy was killed, several others injured.

You probably caught the same clip I did where they made a flashback reference to that event.
