I just saw those pictures of people from Denton that had been arrested. Look at all the drugies and you will understand why the numbers are so high on the TDCJ report.
Observations:
-Middle aged males are stupid.
-84% are males. Women are angelic. Ha Ha.
-Pretty equal numbers between the three major races, except when you consider the population of each.
-Come on Barry, lay off the efforts of the drug war. It pays a lot of your salary doesn't it?

That proves drug user's and pusher's are not too bright. They know that they are doing something illegal, they know they are going to get caught and they know that they are going to prison for a long time, yet they continue...
They get slaps on the wrists and then they're let go. System isn't working that way.
I think we should start sending the message of "don't do drugs" to kids at an early age. That way if they learn not to do drug early on, then they will not do them as adults and then get sent to prison.
To the poster wondering why the Hispanics were listed as 'white', that's because 'Hispanic' just means Spanish-speaking; it is not a racial designation.
The official racial designations are limited to about 5 or 6 designations which presents a problem for mixed-race individuals. Tiger Woods marks 'Asian' as that is the predominant racial tag for him.
Mexican-Americans are of Caucasian (from the conquerors)/native Indian racial ancestry. I don't know if many choose to report themselves as indigenous people.
From the NORML website: "With no prior felony convictions, if convicted of possession of less than one pound of marijuana a judge must impose a sentence of probation with mandatory drug treatment." That's mandatory no-jail time for a first offense. What part of illegal did these folks not understand? (Although the passage quoted above is phrased poorly by NORML; I don't think the judges are the ones in possession. Evidence that pot deteriorates one's ability with written language? No wonder Libertarians have so much trouble getting their message out.)
