Why do you think they're pushing retirement age further back? Same reason. You know the old saying "Only two things...Death and taxes". They wanna squeeze more of one out of you before the other gets you Good luck, kid. Careful what you wish for...
It's nice to see a local home schooled kid getting a firsthand view of the 1st Amendment in action. I wonder what lesson in civics was taught in public schools, today?
That outstanding homeschooler will have hell getting into a good university unless his SAT scores are through the roof. Yet even if he does get in, he'll freak out once he gets there anyway because he doesn't have the social skills to make it in the real world.
3:01 Don't write about that which you know nothing. You were probably some kind of a public school dweeb conditioned to believe any liberal crapola from the left.
3:01 right there with you. I dated this girl who was homeskooled - parents all Church of Christ clean livin', gonna keep her away from the bad in the world, made her go to freakin' Abilene Christian University. She was the most maladjusted, antisocial person I have ever met. But pretty good in the sack.
I do not know if the child is home schooled or not but BRAVO! to his for allowing him to participate in exercising his rights as a citizen of the U.S. I cannot imagine he was forced to attend and hold a sign with which he did not agree. In this day and age, try forcing a child to do anything.
Some of the most well adjusted, well educated children and adults I know are/were home schooled. Every home schooled kid I know has gone on to college and were courted by universities because home schooled students are known for their ability to study independently. One home schooled young adult just finished Navy Seal training and another one is heading to dental school, next fall, at age 21, after graduating with honours this May from a Big 12 university.
Dang...mzcheef is baaaaaacckk! We have not missed her. Hey, turkeybreath mzchief, you might want to take a look at all the kids who graduated PUBLIC schools and see their professional careers too. sheeeeeeesh...
5:28 Ummm...artifically keeping kids together, with age as the primary gage of grouping, is a fairly recent "social" experiment. My mother-in-law (age 94) graduated from the University of Texas at the age of 18. She was not a prodigy; she was the product of a system that moved students ahead as they mastered skills and concepts, rather than keeping them at one level until the school year ended.
The kid reminds me of that documentary about the Fred Phelps idiots - you know, the ones who stand outside military funerals with placards reading "Soldiers are Fags" and shiate like that.......the documentarist asked one little kid if he knew what his sign meant, and he said no, then his mother chimed in, with all that brainwashing bullshiate......exactly what's happening here in my humble opinion.
To Anonymous 5:28...Most people who graduate college, do so at 22 and those who continue for an advanced degree, frequently, do so at 22 without the need to "forego their youth."
My son, who was home schooled has not miss out on ANY aspect of his youth. He became an Eagle Scout when he was 16. Being home schooled enabled him to golf 5 days a week resulting in his having a sweet swing and a better game than most men twice his age. He has Camped in Canada, camped along and white water rafted the Colorado River, white water rafted and camped in New Mexico. He has traveled the world, lived for months on end in the U.K., Ireland, Germany and Costa Rica. He and friends had several years of summer passes to Six Flags, spent a couple of summers life guarding, spent 2 months in D.C. visiting the halls of government, Smithsonian Institute and countless D.C. monuments. He spent months skiing in Colorado. While in college he has enjoyed spring breaks, with friends, in Colorado, Canada and France. He has spent a summer, with other pre-dent students, in Argentina learning new dental procedures. I have mentioned in the past, on Barry's blog, that my son has an "Asian fixation" and dates some of the most beautiful Asian women I have ever seen.
My son has packed more fun and education into his youth than most people manage in a lifetime. I attribute his academic success and being well rounded to the fact he has not been forced to spend countless hours wasting his time sitting in classes with mediocre students being taught by mediocre teachers who are either burnt out or were never inspired. His being home schooled enabled him to make a 1550 on the SAT when a perfect score was 1600.
*******************************To anonymous 6:38...Thank you for reminding me that all I have to do is post a comment to get under your skin.
I can't stand douchebags who parade their kids to their stupid protests, whether they're on the left or the right.
Anyway that idiot parent may not be aware of this, but the debt that kids going to be worrying most about is the money he has to borrow to go to college that he won't be able to pay back because he can't get a decent job after he graduates. Kid should get a head start on saving for college.
9:51, I don't know what cave you crawled out of but being an Eagle Scout gets you a long look by the NSA, CIA and FBI for recruitment. Being an Eagle Scout gets you an extra stripe when you enlist in any armed service. I'd recruit an Eagle Scout in a heartbeat before I'd look to recruit a jock for any job that requires a security clearance.
You hating on your betters is just you showing you're a dumb ass.
Hey Home School Fanboys... I am COMPLETELY in a postion to form this opinion. From watching how unprepared this HomeSkool kids are when their parents get tired of it and let them back into public school.. (and are two or more grade levels behind)... to watching them enter the private sector with no clue to how handle the workplace.
And yeah... many more than one data point to base that on.
10;34 FBI?, Are you sure you don't want to take that one back on your list of brainiac jobs. They seem to F more stuff up than the CIA. Their both unequal to CTU.
The crappy public schools has now turned out two full generations of imbeciles....the proof is in the last election. Homeschooled kids generally out perform the idiots from the public schools in every subject...they don't get to join gangs or sleep with their teachers though...so I guess their socialization is amiss.
Mr. Hubbell, granted public schools are a mess, but as a public school teacher, and I speak for many of my collegues, there are many differences between home schooling and public school. Class size for one. Also, we don't get to choose our students, who many come from horrible home situations, and the politics from higher ups that we have to deal with and have no control over. There is a mountain of paper work, meetings to go to, lessons to be planned and all put on the computer in extreme detail. We are teachers, counselors, nurses, moms, etc. to these children. Our salaries are laughable considering we are all college educated, and many of us who are single have other part time jobs just to pay the bills. So why do I do this? It's challenging, rewarding and even satisfying. So please, don't bash us unless you have walked in our shoes.
Honcho - that is not the case with all home schooled children. It all depends upon the maturity of the parents to help them make the transition. Many of these kids adapt to the "real" world better than you might think because most are given a strong belief in God to help them face the trials and tribulations of this world.
The kid with his cute sign had big debt already with Bush. It is just now more important cause a dem has the wheel. Repubs did not seem to care about the national debt unil Obama was elected. Now it is Wah Wah..Big Debt...kid, grandkids, great grand kids, etc. Teacarpetbagger Republicans. Poor ones want tax cuts for the wealthy. Republican mentality. Go Figure.

Hey Kid....Shouldn't you be in school?
Oh wait...if this works out you can go to work instead.
I bet your parents have a great job planned for you.
No doubt thats funny !
Why is that child out of school?
Good be an outstanding HOMESCHOOLER who is levels ahead of the public school kids. Looks pretty bright to me!

Reckon he was "given a choice" about being put on display?

The child is advanced beyond the jerks in the current administration.

3:28 - You should take your own advice.
Who is going to pay down the debt if they keep aborting future tax payers?
4:07 stop abortion and watch welfare, unemployment, poverty and crime rate skyrocket. Idiot.
Mzchief - why in the world would someone forego their youth so that they could become a gd dentist at 21??
That is what is inherently stupid about homeschooling children. Their youth - gone and taken away from them.
It's only debt if someone comes to collect.
Mzceep knows everything.
5:19, It's already started to skyrocket because of Obammy. Dumbass

It's not funny at all. It's sad because it's so true.

Cut your hair and get back in school, Li'l Abbie Hoffman. This is America: Love it or leave it, you hippie.

3:37, I'm with ya!!! The morale is bad. I've noticed Barry is staying away from school talk.
HOME SCHOOLED = completely unprepared for the real world.
Mr. Mike Honcho = completely formed his opinion out of ignorance.
Gumbment skools dum down the masses. Enjoy!
Mr. Mike Honcho = completely uninformed about home schooled kids.
Eagle scout = Super geek, dork, virgin. Not really a bragging point in the real world creep!

I got kicked out of the scouts for eating all the Brownies
phillip j hubbell, homeschool kids have sex with the teachers, it's called incest!

1:37 - thank you so much for what you've given and are giving our children.
Only stupid people would bash school teachers.

Keep up the good work on behalf of all our children!!!
