When I was kid, a neighbor was involved in a horrible accident about the same time as a holiday (I'm pretty sure it was Thanksgiving.) I remember one of my family members remarking about how difficult it would be for the victim's family because they would be reminded of it every year when that holiday rolled around.
That stuck with me so much.
What a sad thing to happen. And to be just be driving down the road and doing nothing wrong only for it all to end. At the risk of being overly dramatic, it could happen to any one of us at any time. It stopped me in my tracks this morning.

We begin to die from the moment we're born.
I was just thinking the same thing this morning. It is terrible at any time to lose a loved one, but I would think it is way more difficult around the Holidays.
Barry,
If you're referring to Stephen Blaylock who was killed yesterday when another driver crossed into his lane, kudos to the DHS administration who subtly started pulling his son's friends out of class and bringing them to the school office to help deal with the grief (his son is a very popular 9th grader......great kid). They eventually dismissed the entire freshmen classs early. If the accident wasn't horrible enough, it was his son's birthday yesterday.
My best friend, who was to be my best man at my wedding drowned one week before the wedding. So each anniversary I always know he died one week prior, it's a weird sort of feeling. And then there was my mother who fell down the stairs and died a week before Thanksgiving. Thanksgiving is still my favorite holiday, but that episode casts a shadow over it.
God bless the Blaylock family. They are a strong and loving family.
Honestly - this sucks big time. BIG time.
Perhaps we will one day understand the providence of God. Until that day, we will pray for one another as we pass throught this veil of tears.
It's a shame such a sensless act can hurt so many people. Not only is the family hurting but friends as well. Steven was well liked by anyone that knew him, not to mention the kids. It's apparent what kind of father he was just by knowing his children. A father of five, just going to work probably thinking about the plans for later that evening to celebrate his sons birthday and it all ends because of an idiot who was only thinking about himself. Please keep this great family in your prayers and your support of them (however you may chose) would be greatly appreciated. Time heals all things and a kind word is never forgotten.
On December 21 2012 we'll all be stopped dead in our tracks.
i lost my grandma a few years back on thanksgiving day. i still remember it b/c we had our thanksgiving meal in the waiting room at the hospital. we lost her that night. thanksgiving used to be one of my favorite holidays b/c all of the family came together and now shes not here and its just not the same anymore
Blessings and our heart-felt sympathy to the Blaylock family. Didn't Stephen graduate from DHS?
maybe you should never leave your house again so you dont accidentally get run over and die..?
Praying for the Blaylock family.

"10:06 AM"
sorry my friend but you are an idiot that needs to get out and enjoy the world instead of sitting around all day watching the history channel, no one knows when the end of days will come.
My heart and tears go out to the Blaylock family~~~what a terrible tragedy for this family. Stephen was a great father, husband and friend...
Words can't express my sympathy for the Blaylock family. My son is good friends with Brevon and plays basketball with him I just can't imagine how sad for Brevon and his family... He is such a great kid and for this to happen on his birthday and around the holidays. God please give this family strength now and for many days to come.
I suffered a loss last year one week before Christmas. It's all I can think about right now and I suppose it will be the same at this time of the year from now on. My heart goes out to the Blaylock family
10:06 must live out at the Bay with the reast of the looney folks!
Dont rag on the history channel, I have never heard them claim Dec 21 2012 as the day their "CONTRACT" expires! I agree this individual needs to get out more often mabey go see a professional head doctor.
9:57 Give Sympathy to The Blaylock Family in their time of grief but don't call the other driver an idiot you don't know the circumstances or what he was thinking. He will remember now, forever that his actions destroyed a family's dreams for the future. He will have to live with the knowledge that he took those kid's father away from them. I'm sure if you had been the other driver nothing like this would have ever happened, right?
The guy is in deep....
trust me, the other driver is an idiot.
North Texas Bank is hosting a bake sale Wednesday Dec. 23 and is requesting baked items to be brought in by 9:30am. The bake sale will go on all day. Please take baked goods, or stop in and buy some to benefit the Blaylock family.
I am so sorry for everyone's loss - what a tragedy. Please pray!
Wednesday is the 24th not Tuesday? The School Newsletter said Wednesday, December 24 for the Bake Sale.
My grandmother died 2 days before Thanksgiving in 1986. It makes you think about her every year at that time. Ay least I knew her,my grandfather died before I was born. They were both born in the late 1800's and to hear about thier life was always interesting. Like the first time my grandmother saw a car, thier first telephone, when they got electricity or that she could remember her fathers moonshine recipe like she just helped him make a batch yesterday. Pretty cool to think about from time to time.
My bad - you're right. The bake sale is Wednesday the 24th. Sorry for the error.
