It works because there are STUPID PEOPLE EVERYWHERE.
It's a scam to get her butt kicked over a couple hundred bucks. Most people now days (15-25) would take the wallet and kick her back into the street. It's what XBox teaches. She better pick her marks well, and hope they're not gamers.
Either the Messenger knew that it doesn't make sense but printed it anyway knowing that it would make Hoskins look like a retard, or the Messenger Updater is a retard. Given the track record, I'm leaning toward the Messenger.
Pretty stupid scam--why would a potential victim fall for the "I've gotta have some good faith money" in the first place? Even if I was a typical, greedy "mark", the idea of needing "good faith money" doesn't even make sense! Obviously a stupid, scam artist wannabe, I suppose.
Who in heck would be idiotic enough to fall for that?
Course, some folks of the religious fanatic sort would hear "faith" and that would do it.
Dumba$$es.
I'd grab that wallet in one hand and the bitch by the ear in the other and tell her we are walking straight into Walmarts to get this strightened out NOW.
Speaking of scams:
I'd like to know if anyone else in Decatur has been approached by two men in a white van who want to know if you want to buy a stereo system.
These men have approached me twice recently, and about two months apart......once in the Decatur parking lot and once more in the Legend Bank parking lot.
Hey I think this scam was used on a Golden Girl's episode one time! Maybe this is some chick who was laying around watching lifetime and eating ho ho's and decided to see if it would work here in Decatur! I think on there it was a lot of money and they put it in a safety deposit box with the "good faith" money so they both had a stake in it.
Ok I think this is called a pigeon drop con game and here's some info from wikipedia about it.

They approached me and said they had a Home Theater system that they couldn't deliver, and boss told them to dump it!!!!!!
Said my clothes indicated I was a home Theater type of guy........
Don't know which part offended me the more.

its strange that you could tie religious fantisism(not sure how u spell that)with a scam. ive been walking with the Lord for about 25 yrs and have yet to be taken in.

Hey I saw those guys about 4 or 5 months ago. I was at a friends house and we were standing out front and they drove up and said they had a Home Theater system they had to dump, would we like to buy it. we said no and they left. She looked at me and I looked at her and at the same time said stolen System. Ya can't get sumptin for nuthin and if it is a deal too good to be true, well it is.
I think that we should all call the police department and the Messenger and ask them for a reenactment. Sounds like Hoskins was paying more attention to the couple hundred bucks than writing his police report. This doesn't even make any sense. At all.
Hey the same guys approached me and I wound up buyin a Banjo or somethin.
There are a couple of girls kinda doing the same thing here in Lubbock. They will approach you in the parking of the mall saying they can't find their car and want you to give them a ride to look for it. One hops in the front seat and one in the back. The one in the front will get real touchy feely with you and get you all excited...the the one in the back reaches in and steals your wallet. I was robbed there last Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.

Its called the "Pidgien Drop" its an old scam actually ! I know of several people in the Colleyville area mostly elderly that were taken for many thousands! I wish the people this is attempted on would play along with the it long enought to catch them! Just dial 911 on the cell and "play along " the police will indeed track the call or walk into a BANK to get you "GOOD FAILTH mONEY" and ask the teller to dail 911 Now who has who?
I have a question here about these blog spots How do others find them to read? I wrote one about the OWNER of the OLIVER CCREEK STORE on 2264 and his attempted "scare tactics" but never saw it posted Only things like BAT MAN or RANDOM thoughts? who decides if something gets published or not ! I also learned that this person has a med condition and had his Tx drivers lic suspended PASS'S OUT"yet he has been driving all the while! ok ok so I cant spell or properly punctuate a sentenc! I am so new to this I dont even know how to cut copy or paste forwarding an e-mail is even @ times difficult for me! I only comented about the "old pigeon drop" as it is an old scam that resurfuses itself every once in a while! All the while hopfull that someone would read what I wrote to mabey tell me who is the moderator for this board? how the posting from True Texan can be viewed by all? how and where do you write somthing that will be seen by most everyone? like how do those handles Sillicon alley and jar head and bog of nothing end up posting on the page where its the first thing you read? if you dont mind I would really love to know how one goes about this process or where you might find somehelp in Blogger land ...I am learning so please be kind and bare with me here a little while if you will !...lol thanks
