There are some movies that simply look like a bore-fest. I've never seen "The English Patient" and I probably never will. When I first heard of "The Queen", I didn't run out and by a ticket. But, after hearing some good reviews, I put it in my Netflix queue.
Man, did I misjudge it. It is, in essence, a look "behind the scene" of how Queen Elizabeth II handled the media and the public in the six days after Princess Diana's death. It's kind of like a British "West Wing." A friend of mine told me it was like being a "fly on the wall" and she was exactly right. Pure gold. And the character that played Prime Minister Tony Blair was probably my favorite - he was a dead ringer.

Did you use the voiceover narration in the extras section of the video? Really explained alot as I don't understand much Brit!
Wonder if she carrys her drivers license in that purse that is always with her?
Amazing that the Brits just allow her to drive alone like that in the country in her range rover!
(we had been enjoying the Vicar of Dibley on Sunday evening on PBS; however, they finished the run! REALLY funny, have to get the dvd series?)
I bought this movie, something I rarely do. I thought it was probably true to life. I would like to know if people who really know the royal family would agree?
I'm sure MzCreep/Squarehead/Tatorhead (ha ha - I'm still laughing at that one - Tatorhead......ha ha ha) can enlighten us on on the reality of the flick, since she is a limey and knows it all.
I thought it was a very good movie.
