I've actually got a friend that left on a cruise ship out of Galveston yesterday and was supposed to arrive on the back side of Yucatan Peninsula today - then on to Cancun in two days. I'm not sure what happens in this situation.

The cruise lines at the captain's discretion change the voyage and ports a call of the ship. More than likely B's friends booked their cruise weeks and even months ago. Even if they bought insurance it might not cover B's friends electing not to board the ship.
I cannot provide a link to the above information because it was provided to me by my friend Ret. Capt. Cye Henson of the Celebrity Cruise Line ship Century.

For what it's worth, I think ya’ll would have a better chance of not barfing while crusin' behind a hurricane than after being exposed to another inanity from Mz.
If it's the four day Carnival cruise on the Ecstacy, it will do it's regular stop at Cozumel which was outside the area along the Yucatan where there was significant damage from the winds. The five day Ecstacy cruise which leaves on Saturday will also go to
Cozumel but will not go to Pogresso which is further down the Yucatan coast and did recieve damage. The seven day Conquest cruise will make ports of call at
Grand Cayman and Cozumel but will cancel it's port of call at Montego Bay Jamaica which did receive some damage when Dean came through though not nearly as much as Kingston on the south side of the island. It will probably be back on the list within the next few weeks.
