WBAP Commercial

Just heard Mark Davis on WBAP do a commercial for Christian Brothers Automotive. From its web site: Christian Brothers Automotive Corporation (“CBAC”)is a national automotive service franchisor headquartered in Houston, TX.CBAC was founded in 1982 by current CEO/President Mark Carr on the basic principle that honesty and integrity should be the driving force behind the business.

I don't know why that strikes me as odd. Trying to make a buck by appealing to those of similar faith?

Oh the horror. People of faith trying to make a buck off of people of similar faith and by doing it by being honest and ethical. I can see why that makes liberal weenies uncomfortable. And on the other side of the spectrum, lawyers making a buck off of perverts, alcoholics and drug addicts.

One wants to fix your hide and the other your ride.

No difference as you're basically operating on faith with either one and it's gonna cost you.

9:24 Do you mean just like the honest and ethical politicians who use their faith to get votes?

None of those guy could possibly be perverts could they?

And I'm sure none of them could be corrupt could they?

Naw! They claim to be Christian in order to get business and votes therefore that proves they are honest and ethical.

so its ok to be honest and ethical its just not ok to be a christian?

i get it now. the world hated Jesus too.

My experience, 9:24, is that people that use that little fish in their business ads are not always that honest and ethical.

The reason is strikes me as funny: everytime I've been screwed over or backstabbed by a business (most of them in Wise County no less), its been one proported to be "Christian." I now avoid those businesses that think it is a selling point.

Anyone who throws their religion out there scares the crap outa me. They think by doing so the general public will trust them! BEWARE!

From experience, I've had people rent homes and claim to be christian in the forms of pastors, associate pastors, youth ministers, etc. only to become my worst nightmares by destroying my rent houses and having to be evicted due to non-payment.

What? There are NO honest, caring, conscientious, Christian people working at regular businesses that sell and service cars? I've dealt with plenty, and the last place I want to do business with is one that starts off by making claims about how honest and straight shooting they are. There is something about having to preface your words or your sales pitch that way that just screams "run". Was it the great Bill Murray that said, "I'm just a harmless squirrel...not a plastic explosive or anything"?

Too many people these days refer to themselves as "Christians" but don't realize that actions speak much louder than words.

Most people would rather do business with Satan Bros. Auto.

Hey TxSheehan, What's wrong? Couldn't find the longer list of liberal weenies that are perverts and corrupt?

This is why I drink Christian Brothers Brandy! When I get good and drunk and I pass out I want anyone who finds my empty bottle to know that I am a good Christian!

I take my car to this business and have had great results. Admirable that they have the guts (nowadays) to put out a "Christian" sign.

I wouldn't care if they we Muslim, Hindu, Jewish, Christian or agnostic - if they do the job correctly and charge appropriately. I'd rather check their BBB rating than their church attendance.

I never would have thought I would see the day in America that publically pronouncing myself to be a Christian would cost me business...

Will someone tell me how to get involved in the Oil for Food Program...I'm a minority...

Here are a couple of facts. Nobody can dispute these facts. Fact one is that we exist, and if we could go back in time one day at a time to see how we got here, eventually we would discover there is just one path, one truth. Whether there is a God or not, whether Jews, Hindus, Christians, etc. are right or not...it is a fact there is only one truth. Fact two is that because there is just one truth, given the many religions on earth, plus those that don't believe there is a God at all....the vast majority of people on earth right now have got it all wrong. Their beliefs are totally wrong. That's billions of people folks, that are totally wrong. They have to be, because there is only one truth, whatever that is. And it's a minority on this planet that believe in what is actually correct.

Wow, quite a bit of hostility toward Christians here. If the same sentiment were aimed at any other group, say Muslims, gays, or a person of color, it would be called "intolerant" or "hate speech."

Christians and white Southerners are the only groups left that you can discriminate against with impunity.

One dictionary's definition of prejudice is "unreasonable feelings, opinions, or attitudes, esp. of a hostile nature, regarding a racial, religious, or national group."

Didn't "liberal" used to mean "open-minded?"

11:26 - your post is right on.

Thanks.

Wordkyle, if you stuck your hand in a hole and a snake bit you would you stick your hand in that hole again? It has nothing to do with discrimination.

anon 10:08 - The way Christians are treated and talked about is the very definition of discrimination. A certain stereotype -- as with all stereotypes, a few elements of truth mixed with lots of caricatural misconceptions -- has gotten into some people's heads, to the point where Christians can be publicly ridiculed and maligned like no other group. Substitute the word "Muslim" for Christian, and suddenly it becomes hate speech. But you can slander Christians and Christianity all you want, without fear of repercussions.

That stinks.

After pondering this issue for a few days, I have come upon a theory that may better describe this particular phenomenem.

First, there is quite a difference between a Christian operated business and a business that says they're Christian's just to boost business!

Second, we have the impression that a "Christian" operated business will be less expensive... which is false. Actually a "Christian" business will many times have a higher overhead, and here is why. They don't cheat or cut corners. They don't use cheap or stolen materials or parts. They normally hire more trustworthy employees which costs them more. Many times they will spend more time on a job to get it right instead doing itsecond-rate.

Lastly, the American people need to blame someone for all their problems so Christians fall right in there with politicians, ethnic groups, union groups, ect... Remember, it's far easier to place blame than to find a solution. We can never forgive a Christian because they set themselves to a "higher standard".

That's how I see it...and I could be wrong...I'll get back to surfin for porn now...
