I watched the first two seasons of "Lost" on DVD and went from loving it to being bored with it. There's more freakin' people on that deserted island than there are in the Decatur Walmart on Saturday afternoon. And that's a lot of people.
stick with it. Season three will redeam itself, I just know it. But yeah, the people seem to be multiplying and the writers are trying to incorporate more and more back stories. I heard that the producers are trying to determine an end date for the series so that they can write accordingly. Apparently stringing us along is not working out for them any better than it is for us.
OK. I know I'll probably get skewered for this, but if you're looking for some really good stuff on DVD, try the Sci-Fi channel's Battlestar Gallactica series (complete "re-imagining" of the old 1970s series), starting with their 2-part miniseries, which I think is included in the package with the first full season.
Unlike the 1970s series - which, if interesting at the time, was nonetheless pure kitsch - this series really deserves the rave reviews it has received. (At one point, Rolling Stone called it "the best show on tv".) Despite it's setting, it is raw, gritty and relevant. It says a great deal about hope, despair, stubbornness, imperfection, and obsession, as well as what it means to be "human" and what it means to be "civilized."
The show itself is currently on hiatus until 2008, but it really deserves a look.
Lost is what television was made for. The current season rocks! Beats the heck out of all those lame CSI and SVU formula shows, and stupid game/reality shows

But they're all pretty people and WALMARTS...well,you get the picture.
Are you saying this fine example of humanity is "lost" in a WALMART parking lot?
Hang in there, Barry. They up the scenes with Sawyer...it's excellent viewing.
Lost was a great show....the first time....when it was called Gilligans Island.
