
. . . a couple of weeks ago about the movie ratings system. It was OK, but it spent alot of time blasting this guy (above) who was in charged of the ratings board for years. He died today.
You may or may not recognize him. What you might not know is that he was in one of the most famous photos in U.S. history. Take a look in the background and to the left (or at around the 9:00 o'clock position) here.

I guess Barry is too young to remember that Jack Valenti was a political consultant to Vice President Johnson who had been put in charge of White House press coverage of the President's Texas visit at the time of Kennedy's assassination, and was then appointed Special Assistant to President Johnson who he served until '66 when he became president of the Motion Picture Academy.
Alas. Look at Jack. He's not only merely dead, he's really most sincerely dead.
Good riddance. He is one of the largest reasons for the cultural stagnation in this county.
