Interesting... But on to other matters.

Barry, my sources have informed me that the trial of Kevin Riedle was yesterday. Any news on it?

It is a very scary world we live in. It is unfortunate for the young people today - don't feel safe anywhere. I was raised in Houston - hardly ever heard of all the violence that we have today. Don't think that there is any place you can live to escape it. Her prognosis doesn't sound good - I'm very sorry for her family. Maybe Iraq has it right - have a trial, guilty, hang em. Maybe it would cut down on some of the violence.

Actually countries without the death penalty have lower crime rates than countries with it.

Now that's news. This is the type of news we need more of so go out there and shoot someone.

So is this charge gonna be murder or capital murder?

Anonymous said...

Isn't Capital murder when there is more than one murdered victim?

Anonymous said...

I believe capital punishment is reserved for murder commited during a robbery, I could be wrong.

Anonymous said...

Capital murder is defined by the Texas Penal Code as intentionally causing the death of another while committing felony level crimes such as these:

kidnapping
burglary
robbery
sexual assault
terroristic threats
escaping from a prison
In addition, capital murder charges can be filed for murder of a child, murder of a police officer, and murder of a fireman.

9:48 here. Capital murder is murder with aggravating circumstances.Rape, assault, robbery, murder of a on duty police officer ect. While committing the murder. Which is by the way the only crime that can get death penalty in Texas.

After I read the update again I found it will not be charged as capital murder capital murder. Normal murder is 5-99 years (thats in a case like this).

However this may be a case of "murder in the heat of passion" which is only 2-20 years in prison. But this would only apply if there was a argument and the alleged murderer was angry and not thinking strait.

Yeah pretty much what the guy who posted above me said. Except I explained that its the only crime that can get the death penalty in Texas.

Hold it! I just read the update! It is capital murder!

BREAKING NEWS - SHOOTING DEATH — A cook at the Hot Skillet restaurant in Alvord has died at Wise Regional Health System after being shot. Maria Limon, 37, of Bowie had just arrived at work Wednesday morning shortly before 7 a.m. when the suspect walked up and started fighting with her before pulling a rifle and shooting her, according to Wise County Sheriff David Walker. Officers originally said the suspect left the scene headed northbound, possibly in a red Ford pickup, however, officers later received information that the suspect had driven up in a van and left the scene on foot. Police are trying to locate her ex-husband, a possible suspect in the case

Anonymous said...

Yep I think since he assaulted her it may make it capital murder.

8:53 - I totally agree with you. Go back to the old west. String them up to the nearest tree.

By the time all of this goes through trial and is dragged out in the press we will be sick of it, not to mention what the poor family will go through.

Maybe she overcooked his eggs one last time...never trust a skinny cook!

Anonymous said...

Obviously there were no drugs involved......you can't work at that place if you take drugs. At least that's what their help wanted ad always says.

Anonymous said...

"heat of passion" doesn't count anymore. And no, this is not capital murder.

Anonymous said...

IF THE COOK DIES, DO YOU STILL HAVE TO LEAVE A TIP?

2:44 and 12:37-

You should be ashamed of your insensitivity. A woman is dead and a family will mourn uncounted hours after her death, and all you can do is make fun of it? SICK!!

Anonymous said...

. . . and for you idiots who want to argue the legal status of this case, you are sick, too. What difference does it make? You are just about as insensitive as the rest for arguing something so petty. I am disturbed by the fact that even small towns are no longer immune to such violent crime. This is something you see on the DFW news, not something you expect to see in Alvord.

This story made the think about the nurse that was killed in the parking lot of Trinity Care Center a couple of years ago. Scary!

Anonymous said...

I think this is very sad! people should not be making fun of it.. that is just more hurt to their family when they read these SICK comments some of you people have left.

To anonyNOTHING 4:41 & 6:08...
Get a grip!
In the HORRIBLE reality that has become the lives of the families of the victim and perpetrator of this crime, NOTHING a bunch of "insensitive" commentators have to say on a blog MATTERS in the least and if it does those family members need to have an even BIGGER reality check than YOU!

As for THIS crime being something that happens in DFW. Clearly you are either NEW to Wise County or have a SHORT memory. Twenty-one plus years ago an employee at the then Mitchell Energy Plant, now Devon Energy Plant 2 miles west of Bridgeport, was FIRED in the morning and returned at noon and shot and KILLED Jack the plant manager who was a devoted father and husband and left paralyzed Charles an avid golfer and the man who disarmed the assailant. There was NO trial because the assailant/murderer died in a high speed chase that resulted in a fiery crash in Jacksboro, Texas.

As long as there are people inhabiting a location SOME people will do HORRIBLE things to other people in THAT location.

Yes, 4:41, you are right. The only offenses we expect to see here in Wise County are drug busts. And we have more, right here my friends, than they do in the major cities. It's a fact.

This was not a random act of violence. It is called Intimate Partner Violence and it happens all the time. As a matter of fact, more than half of women in the United States would be safer on the streets than they are in their own homes. Now that is scary.
