$165,200

Chief Justice John Roberts calls this annual salary for federal judges a "constitutional crisis." Really, how is a guy supposed to survive on that?

Even the Democrats are trying to get them a pay raise:

"Legislation languished in Congress in 2006 that would have provided a 16 percent increase in federal judges' salaries. The bill was introduced by Democratic Sens. Dianne Feinstein of California, Patrick Leahy of Vermont and John Kerry of Massachusetts."

Damn those no-good partisan Republicans.

Dear God - how out of touch some folks are with the financial struggles of the average American.

Raising the minimum wage will be a good start to helping our citizens.

First of all -- ANON 10:28 am: What the heck does the minimum wage have to do with this topic?

Secondly, if we are losing these highly-paid judges (by the implications made) to private practice because they can make more in private practice, doesn't that argue that lawyers are paid too much across the board?

Want to guess what percentage of that multi-billion dollar penalty the tobacco industries paid several years ago went to lawyers?

Lawyers made $7,716 an hour, fleecing tobacco companies, smokers and taxpayers $8.2 billion in legal fees.

The system's broke.
